All Eyes On the Skies III (South Carolina Edition)

We had some world-class thunder-boomers roll through this part o' the world last evening... and I mean WORLD class, with sturm und drang quite unlike what we get on The High Plains of New Mexico, in terms of lightning strikes per minute and storm duration.  Storms on THPoNM tend to move through the area VERY quickly, but not HERE.  Our storms last night lasted about an hour and were VERY entertaining. We have more of the same on tap for this evening.

Here's the view off to the north of us around 1500 hrs or so:

We loves us some cloud formations.  Yes, Precious... yesss we does!

  1. The rains came here, but no boomers, no show in the sky. It has been just gray and wet. Jes is still in the mountains and I so envy her.

  2. Pretty skies! We had rather unexpected boomers here today, too. They made for some unsettled dogs.

Thunderstorms sound different in NOLA than in Arkansas -- the thunder just rolls and rolls with no topography to speak of to interfere with it.

Good Saturday afternoon background nap music. Enjoy!

It's been awhile since I shot coffee out of my nose. Thanks Buck!

  4. I agree Buck - the cloud formations in these parts have been spectacular all summer. I suppose they go with the ridiculously hot & humid weather we've been having. I suppose some people would say it's a fair trade. I would not agree.

I loves me some cloud formations too...just w/out the heat & humidity!

We have the same storms forecast for around all afternoon and tomorrow. Lovely - because I definitely don't like me some thunderstorms. Definitely not.

  5. Lou: I envy Jes, too. The mountains are a good place to be in summer.

Moogie: The space under my bed got REAL crowded during t-storms in the way-back. Dogs HATE that stuff. We got more of it today (Sunday).

    Anon: Thank ya, Sir/Ma'am!

Kris: The building thunderheads are spectacular to watch. The results? Not so much. Our windows are completely frosted on the outside due to the humidity, which is insufferable.

  6. I need to post more to my personal blog in addition to that political thingy I do. Yours is inspiration.

We are a meteorologist and a photographer at heart, even if we do IT to feed ourselves.

  7. Thanks for the nice words, Phil. I gave up on that political thing for the most part, even tho I'll post an occasional thing in that space. I just get SERIOUSLY tired of the echo chamber... there's just too much of it these days.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
