Scrapin' the Bottom o' the Blogging Barrel VI

Summerface...

AKA the I'm-gonna-be-in-uniform-in-a-week's-time-so-the beard-hadda-go face.  The 'stache still needs some work, though.  That said... we made a command decision.

In other news... I've been informed The Green Hornet will be released from the Automochine Hospital this afternoon.  We're anxiously awaiting a phone call to come pick her up.

Update, 1830 hrs or so:  That call I referenced above never came.  So if the mountain won't come to Mohammad, etc.  I rang up the Mazda Store and Repair Depot and was informed that "we" have problems.  It seems the service tech sheared off a bolt while reinstalling the exhaust system and "they" were in the process of "trying to figure out how to reattach the exhaust."  Which does NOT give us a warm and fuzzy feeling about (a) the competency of all involved and (b) the probabilty our vehicle will be finished and in a drivable condition come Monday.  We DO have a fall-back plan concerning Tuesday's "hard start" date for our trip up Nawth... but still.  Cold and pricklies prevail.  This is NOT good.

  1. You think YOU'RE scraping the bottom of the blog barrel???

At least you posted a nice photo of a handsome chap. All I could figure out to do was enlist about 30 bloggers in a joint HB effort.

I attached the label "blog friends," but I could have added my tag, "I'm is bored!"

Nice look, pal! Seriously! Makes you look 10 years younger IMHO.

    wv: brandme Nyuk...

  2. Yea, I'm with Andy, you look much younger...and not to sound too gay, but better looking also.

  3. Quite dapper and squared away! And the "looking younger" thing -- yep.. I've gotta go along.

Also, I'm very happy that you shall soon be reunited with the queen of your rollig stock! It's good to have everyone where they're supposed to be -- even cars.

  4. Rolling stock. Geez, fingers.

Heh. I need to introduce ya to some wimmen I know. Mayhap you could influence their opinion. ;-)

Small-Tee: Thank ya, sir. You are kind, indeed.

Moogie: You are too kind, as well. But we were NOT reunited with our love-object. And we are NOT pleased.

  6. "But we were NOT reunited with our love-object. And we are NOT pleased."

    Well, that sucks. Just sayin'...

Dude, I can not tell you what my wv is.

Okay, The Mrs. has chastised me too often for doing crap like that. So, my wv is "topma."

  7. Bummer on the car, my friend. Hope things take a turn for the better.

The beard thing is the reason I will NEVER again put on a uniform. That, and I just don't want to.

  8. Knocked a few years off there buddy!
If memory serves me correct, that bolt is a stud into the block. But it has been about 14 years since I did the exhaust mechanic thing.

Yah. I've tried giving the service guys the benefit of the doubt, but the fact they didn't CALL when they ran into problems pisses me off.

The beard thing is the reason I will NEVER again put on a uniform.

The beard was always optional, BR. I could have kept it but decided not to. Then again, it usually goes sometime in mid-June and returns in November.

If memory serves me correct, that bolt is a stud into the block.

It's actually a stud on the exhaust manifold that sheared off, or at least that's the story I got. Some studs are press-in and some are threaded... this one is threaded and therein lies the problem, or so they say. I'm thinking "What? You don't have any EZ-outs?" But I was on the phone with them 15 minutes before they closed on a Friday afternoon. THAT makes all the difference in the world.

  10. I think I would be a bit cheesed, shall we say, that they had not called to "mention" this problem.

And then I'd want to know how much are they reducing the bill for causing this problem.

Or what fabulous car they're going to give me to drive for free while they putz around fixing something THEY broke.

Questions I ask in the nicest, sweetest way, of course! And then -- and only then -- if the answer is not satisfactory, do the gloves come off.

    Good luck!

  11. I see you're trying to avoid being identified on all those P.O. "Wanted" posters, eh, Buck? :)

It's pronounced MON-roe, by the locals, Buck--or used to be. (depends on shade of red on the neck, heh--that, and the older one is the more likely it is that that pronunciation will be used--redneck or college professor alike)

About that Blue Tango vid awhile back. During 50s was a BIG hit--even on College campii where it was on all the juke-boxes in that pre rock & roll era. Was then, and still is, a favorite of mine..

Hope all goes well with the Green Hornet. Auto Dealer Serv Depts are the only business I know where they try to make you pay for THEIR mistakes--and feel grateful about it. Don't EVEN get me started...

  12. Maybe you should get Bubba to go help 'em.

    Dang, Buck. Sorry.

  13. Well, as long as they don't go up on the price on you, I'd have some grace for 'em. As a "work on my junk myself" guy, I have certainly encountered such problems.

BTW: Ease outs are highly over-rated. In my three tries with them, I have only had one success. Of course, it could be my competence level...

And the "Friday" thing is a real factor for sure. They'll get it done. After all, they are the Factory guys.

  14. I agree with all the above on the beard - younger is the word. Then I mis-read part of a comment - something about a stud off the block. And I had to go back and read some more because I thought you must have mentioned SN1 and I had missed it. I need to get new glasses or a new mind.

  15. Lou - don't change the mind, it's a beautiful thing. :-)

Buck - so sorry about the Hornet. Hopefully on Monday things will improve significantly.

You look great either way Buck; I liked the beard - but then The Oracle has sported full facial hair for the past 20 years. So perhaps I'm biased...

  16. WOW... your blue eyes pop all clean cut and shaven!! Handsome handsome!!!

Errh... but good luck with the Green Hornet operation... sheesh!

  17. I think I would be a bit cheesed, shall we say, that they had not called to "mention" this problem.

I gave 'em the benefit of the doubt, Kath. It might have happened close to the end of the bid'niz day on a Friday afternoon. But OTOH...

I see you're trying to avoid being identified on all those P.O. "Wanted" posters, eh, Buck? :)

Well, putting on a beard or taking one off is THE time-honored way, innit? And your comment on the "Blue Tango" tune is well-taken. Sexy beyond belief.

Moogie: Mebbe I should have gone to Bubba in the FIRST place!

And the "Friday" thing is a real factor for sure. They'll get it done. After all, they are the Factory guys.

I sense you MIGHT have your tongue planted firmly in your cheek, Andy. Mebbe. Just sayin'.

Then I mis-read part of a comment - something about a stud off the block. And I had to go back and read some more because I thought you must have mentioned SN1 and I had missed it.

Understandable. Studs and old blocks, and all that. ;-)

Kris: The beard WILL go back on come winter. Cue up Tevye: "TRA-dition!"

KC: Thank ya, Ma'am. On BOTH counts, but especially the former.

  18. You need to grow that thang and git you some moustache wax :-)

  19. Too much work, Mr. Webb. I'm SO into lo-maintenance these days. And besides... we have one of those tee shirts.

  20. That is a beautiful scene. Where was that shot?

    ReplyDelete
  21. In Letchworth State Park near where I lived in Ra-cha-cha. It is supremely beautiful in the Fall, and there are a few pics at the link. Thanks for asking!

    ReplyDelete
  22. That is beautiful. I figured somewhere up North East way. The foliage didn't have the Western, or even Midwest look.

Definitely not the South. Thanks for sharing that shot. And, I'm with ya' on the wax stache deal...too much trouble.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
