We're just back from The Big(ger) City™ where we spent the morning sitting in a waiting room at the Automotive Spa... specifically: Ironhorse Detail Shop... waiting for The Green Hornet to get all cleaned up, tarted up, and made beautiful. This, of course, is in preparation for our impending road-trip up to Leavenworth and points east. Coz we ALL know a clean pristine car rides better than a dirty one. And she most certainly is pristine. Witness:

She is certainly looking spiffy and has maintained her beauty despite her age.
ReplyDeleteHot dang, does Ms. GH look good. Looks like she just rolled off the showroom floor. And that green. There's something about a British racing green babe.... And the top looks like new too. Didn't you get a new one of those last year?
ReplyDeleteLou: I'm continually amazed at just how WELL she's held up. Notbad at all, considerin' she'll be 12 this year.
ReplyDeleteDan: I did get her a new top last July. And I DO like her color!
Had a '96 Ford Ranger that color, it would change hues according to the sunlight. Got many compliments from total strangers.
ReplyDeleteMan, I miss her…custom pinstripes, diamond plated bed tool box, brand new beefy Bridgstone tires, new battery, new front glass, new Jensen speakers, new head gasket…use to wax and armor all her religiously…
Then I rolled it over and now I have a ‘03 one in black that nobody gives a second glance to.
Thanks, Buck, just when I thought I was over her…
Sorry, Small-Tee. She does sound like a beauty, tho. Apropos o' nuthin'... small girls and Old Ladies always look at me, smile, and say "I like yer car!" And guys at the detail shop lookin' fer tips.
DeleteOhhhh, pretty indeed! And we know that a shiny convertible is a babe magnet. Check out the video I just sent you on the subject. I larfed me arse off.
ReplyDeleteAnd we know that a shiny convertible is a babe magnet.
DeleteSee "small girls and old ladies," above. ;-)
Shiny!
ReplyDeleteThank ya, Ma'am!
DeleteLooks like a new one. Nothing like a well kept machine.
ReplyDeleteShe HAS had a good life, Ed. And she's been showered with affection.
DeleteGood lookin' cah... I dig the convertibles, too! But you knew that already, right? It is a good feeling to drive a clean and well kept up ride.
ReplyDeleteThe cool thing about your car is that Mazda seems to keep doing the right thing with the special cars. However, my first new car was a Mazda B2000 back in 1984 from the East Bay.
(By the way, I was in a Val Strough commercial back in 1986, TINS!)
Wasn't the B2000 a pickup? I owned the Ford-badged version in the way-back, too. Mine was red.
DeleteVal Strough owes me money for all the free advertising I've given them over the years. Just sayin'.
It was a pickup, indeed. $5995 out the door. If they had been making the Miata back then, I would have jumped on that in a second. Instead, I had an MGB.
DeleteInstead, I had an MGB.
DeleteAnd it prolly leaked oil, among other thangs. I had a '57 TR-3... until I wrecked it.
Bitchin'!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy would ANYBODY have wet dreams about a Gubmit Motors Caddy when they have a sweet little thing like that?
And, with covered parking, too... ;)
Well, there's nuthin' that sez I can't have both a Caddy and a Green Hornet, is there?
DeleteYou could get a BMW 1 series for the same price range as that Caddy. Jussayin.
ReplyDeleteOr even a certified pre-owned 3 series with little mileage and covered maintenance. My son just picked up a loaded 2011 with 10K on it for around 30K.
They are quiet, quick, handle beautifully, as you know from having one in a prior life. :) You would have a sun roof for when you don't want to go full top down with the Green Hornet.
The downside of owning a Beemer in my part o' the world would be having to drive to Amarillo or Lubbock for service. But I agree with ya, OG: they ARE damned fine cars.
