Heh

That's pretty good... better than usual... and Mr. Kelley is always good.

In other news... we're sleeping in shifts again.  I tried sumthin' entirely new last evening: I went right to bed when I caught myself drifting off on the couch while watching teevee.  That was at 2200 hrs; four hours later my eyes popped open and wouldn't close again.  I tried to get back to sleep for a half-hour then gave up, got up, fired up the coffee, and proceeded to catch up on my reading (as opposed to firing up the 'puter), figuring that might put me to sleep.  No such luck.  I was awake from 0230 until just after 0800 when I finally yawned and tried again.  Sleep came and lasted for about three and a half hours... so we have seven and a half hours o' sleep on the night, albeit in shifts.  And my day is well and truly blown.

It's always sumthin'.

  1. Must be somethin' in the air.
I hit the hay an hour earlier than usual and woke about 4 hours later.
I didn't get up, though, and managed to finally fall back to sleep after about two and a half hours.

    1. I dunno about the air, but I DO know the sleepin' was pretty good after the sun got high.

  3. A very good friend of mine was having some financial difficulties, and I decided to give her some of my sewing work. Of course she would need money in order to finish the work, so I gave her enough to give me a month of work.

Alas, I called her after 3 weeks to see how it was going. She said she needed more time. I said just give me what you got, and we are even. Then she said she doesn't have anything for me.

I was up all night, tossing and turning, trying to figure out what to do. In the morning with no sleep, I finally slept until 10am. Then I went to confessions to tell my Priest I was going to kill somebody. Short story, he put my mind at rest, and said I was to forgive her, and wait for her to correct the wrong. She called this afternoon, and said she would stop by to bring the material she bought, so I think we are on the way to recovery. As the Priest surmised her problems are bigger than my "damned" sewing (as he called it) :-)

It takes a lot for me to lose sleep though, my hobby is sleep!

  4. Great cartoon. Once again a fortuitous semi-freeze of teh 'puter, held back the ounch-line. I INVOLUNTARILY cackled out loud!

PS: I'm right with you there on the sleep-pattern bit. I've rationalized mine because of dividing 50% West Coast time and 50% Central ST., but the results are much the same: Early sleep, wide-awake in the middle of the night, then sleep after 6-7am...

    1. I run hot-'n'-cold in the sleep space, Virgil. Most times I'm OK, but when weirdness hits I'm MOST definitely NOT.

  5. I've had nights like that. No damn fun at all!

  6. I liked the cartoon but I didn't get it. How many people speak German? :) Sleep comes and goes. I've reached the point where a five minute nap after dinner postpones sleep for another 8 hours.

    1. Good point about Merkel, Curtis, srsly. As for sleep... I think my evening "naps" are the principal cause of my sleep issues.

  7. The only thing worse than pulling a split shift is having a split sleep night. I'm having those more and more lately. My doc gave me some Ambien last year; I took one pill which caused me to sleepwalk (Joyce woke me about half way down the stairs). I quit the stuff before I broke my neck. I use a bit of melatonin now, which helps a little.

    1. Sleeping pills scare me... the prescription sort. I take an OTC concoction called "Sleep" which has melatonin and a couple of other "herbal" sleep enablers in it. The principal (and enjoyable) side-effect I've noticed with this preparation is more vivid dreams, and I mean MUCH more. Wild, even.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
