Swag From the AOR

SN1 gifted me with this when he came home on leave...

My inner interior decorator is quite pleased with how well the colors on the wrap match my furnishings.  The wrap... or blanket, if you prefer... features all the airframes Buck is responsible for maintaining in his role as 380AEW/EMXS commander.  That would be, in no particular order, the KC-10, the Global Hawk, two variants of Eagles, the Raptor, AWACS, and the Dragon Lady.  That's a pretty diverse flight line, nu?

  1. That is so awesome!

And yes, that IS a (ahem) "diverse" flight line.

    1. I suppose I coulda/shoulda chose my words more carefully. But I really, rilly, couldn't think of a suitable alternative to "diverse."

    2. EVERY flight line is "distinct," Skip. Distinctively uncomfortable, always, but al Dhafra is much more so, what with the constant triple-digit temps.

  2. Love it and it does go quite handsomely with the decor. But then again, even if it didn't it would still look great.

  3. Speaking of flight-lines and triple-digit temps, it always TOTALLY blew my mind at places like Laughlin, DaNang or Holloman, to see old maint types standing in the 3pm sun at the height of the heat of the day where, if you put a thermometer to the ramp it would register 130+, all drinking cups of steaming hot black coffee, lol.

    1. Buck tells me the AMBIENT temp on the flight line at al Dhafra approaches 130 degrees in summer. Everyone wears gloves to keep from getting burned when they touch the aircraft.

    2. But it's a DRY heat, Buck. :)

  4. Plus got to give your son credit, Buck,, for handling a logistics nightmare (comparatively speaking.) When there is only one type of ac on the flight-line you sure don't have to worry about accidently mixing up the parts in the parts-bins, do you? LOL.

    1. I don't envy him the logistics nightmare. At ALL.

  5. Ooh, I like that. It goes so well with your very Elite tastes.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
