A Quick Hit

We're just in from that commissary run that we deferred from yesterday and we'll get those Navy beans goin' in a minute or six.  But first... a semi-interesting story.

The Cannon commissary has a kind of bagger-lady mafia, the core of which is a cadre of perhaps six or seven older (like 50-something) oriental ladies.  These ladies all seem to know me and each and every one of them commented on The Tart (Oh!  You have NEW car!  Niiice!) the first time they saw it and all of whom asked what happened to The Green Hornet, while they were at it.  We seem to have a good relationship, those ladies and I.  But there's more... So I get through the check out line today and begin making my way to the door when every single bagger-lady working the other lines stops, waves, and shouts out a greeting.  This continues out in the parking lot, where two more ladies shout out greetings ("How are you, Sir?  Did you have a Happy New Year?").  I'm beginning to think this is a lil bit strange and then it hit me: my last commissary run was on December 22 and I slipped my bagger lady a twenty, along with a "Merry Christmas!"

Word gets around, I guess.

And now we have to get those beans goin', to be followed with an outdoor Happy Hour.  It's 55 beautiful degrees outside.

  2. Yep. The Filipino bagger ladies are at every Deca Commissary, I think there is a law requiring this. They are always double nice to me when I shop alone and have our "Family Truckster". I make sure they understand that it is my Spousal Unit's car.

    1. I don't think The Tart has much to do with it... the ladies were very nice to me when I was drivin' The Green Hornet. But I hear ya.
