Ommm... Ommm...

We didn't mention this in our earlier post but part and parcel of that package the Brown Truck O' Happiness left us was this...

That's an even dozen packages of incense in various flavours.  It was time to resupply the incense stock and we normally... which is to say for the last six or seven years... go with the traditional Indian Nag Champa incense.  The last time we re-supplied we bought "Midnight" and REALLY liked it.  So, it came to pass that we discovered Amazon offered a Satya variety pack and that's what we bought this time around.

We're burning three sticks of  "Jasmine Blossom" for this evening's devotions and the aroma makes me wanna go out and get some Chinese take-away.  But we like it... yes, we DO.  sign

I'll prolly wanna go out and score some pot the first time we burn the Patchouli Forest.  Coz you know how us ol' hippies are... or can be.  Heh.

  1. You're not letting your hair grow long now are you? Wearing it in a pony tail? I have to admit that "midnight" fragrance sounds pretty danged cool. Me and the mrs. used to light a few stick back in the day. Do they have one called "Puff the Magic Dragon" by any chance?

  2. I don't do incense. My friend in NM did - of course, she was about ten years older than me and much more of a hippie than I. Nope, around here we just smell like dogs.

    1. I've been an incense fan since my 20s. It's required nowadays, since my conversion to Buddhism... yanno? (more smiley thingies, please!)

I've told that story before. A lot, actually. As for the concubines... been there, done that, prefer blondes.

    5. About the dog-tags at the link. I guess they changed that rule sometime after I went on active reporting for Plt tng at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio summer of '66, as I got away with having "None" listed for religion cat--they didn't bat an eye..

(PS: I'm an agnostic, really--I'm hedging my bets..lol)

    6. I'm an agnostic, really

That's me, too. When the subject comes up I always say "I believe in a higher power but I don't know what his/her name is. I kinda hope it's sumthin' like Athena, Venus, or Aphrodite, coz the concept of The Goddess really appeals to me." I get the strangest looks...

    7. PPS: Remember, Buck, for a small fee you can become an ordained MInister in the Universal Life Church! They give you a certificate to frame for your wall, too! Can't beat that. You should get it and run for the local Justice of the Peace and perform weddings for a small fee--pocket change for your booze&cigars..lol

(PS: I've got a divorced buddy from Louisville (and a fraternity brother from Western Kentucky) who did just that! He owened a buncjh of Hallmark -card shops in Louisville after being a sales rep for many years in Conn. Says helps make his retirement one of "judicial splendor" lol.

(FUNNY story about his divorce. When he and wife made decision to quit Hallmark sales rat-race in Conn and move back to Louisville and buy the stores, he wennt ahead after they sold their house to scout out new diggs in Louisville while wife stayed on in temp apt until school-year ende3d for son. When she arrived in Louisville at their new temp apt she found this 27 ft sloop--no, ketch w.BOWSPRIT, no less, rigged for heavy wx Atlantic sailing (e.g., heavy-weight sails--for the light winds of the Ohio R. ??)--parked in driveway! Turns out Bob took the proceeds of home sale (or good chunk of them) and bought it on East Coast (couldn't pass up the deal) without her knowing about it, had it shipped to Louisville. Divorce--BITTER DIVORCE--quickly followed--TRUST ME, I was a witness to it all--MUCH hilarity!

(I won't EVEN go into the time Bob and his son and me and mine were becalmed--due to combo of light to no wind and aforementioned heavy sails--in the middle of the Ohio on a HOT, SWELTERING late August day when the engine conked out and we were full of booze. Talk about sweat hogs! I'll never forget the discomfort. "Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink" LOL!)

That concept appeals to me, too. But I'd want a powdered wig and a serious bench to sit behind. ;-)

  3. I burned incense in college and early in our married life. Then I got diagnosed with asthma and that had to stop. The smoke along will set me off, let alone the fragrances that lend themselves to incense. I did enjoy it when I was able to burn it.

    2. Buck - not at all! Actually I am very fortunate to have my asthma well-controlled. Spring allergies hit me hard, tis true. I was never a big smoker - of anything (wink wink) - and I do use scented wax burners in the house. So I get the fragrances at a level I can tolerate w/out sending the asthma into hyper-drive. You make do with what you have, right? :-)

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
