You DIDN'T!

I did.  Last night.  I got kinda weepy about it, too.

  1. Oh my gosh! I'm sure this was a good decision, but a tough one.

    1. Tough, indeed, but I can't rationalize having two cars. A car and a mo'sickle, yes. ;-)

    It is to weep.

    1. Yeah... I had second, third, and fourth thoughts along the lines of "do you REALLY wanna do this?" But I decided I did, in the end.

  4. You couldn't just haul it around behind the Caddy?

  5. It served it's purpose, and some young whipersnapper will have a ball with it!

You're too old for organ donation. We have a lot of guys who think a bandana will hold their brains in after some idiot takes a left turn in front of them. Bandana won't even clean off the handle bars.

    1. I'm not as... ummm... "aggressive" a rider as I used to be, Organ. That's why I'm thinkin' about a Harley v. another rice-rocket.

  6. If you were going to use it regularly, as well as the Tart, you could probably rationalize, if not justify, having both vehicles.
Lord knows I know how it feels to give up a favorite.

    1. I do drive her as much as I do the Tart, so far. But I'm still thinkin' about that Harley...

  7. So tempted to fly out and buy it from you. Had in the back of my mind that I'd look for a used convertible in good condition. Damn.

    1. C'mon out, Barry. I'll pay your airfare (i.e., knock $500 off the price), pick you up in Lubbock, buy ya dinner, and give you the opportunity to begin the return trip with a bad head. TGH would be just perfect for where you live, what with all those neat lil back-roads and interesting places to go on the weekend. Plus... you KNOW her history, having read EIP for the last five years or so.

    2. So. Tempted.

But I slept on it, and I think I better look for something with at least a vestigial back seat in it. If I get a convertible that I can't take the dogs in, they're never going to forgive me.

That's a very fair price, and I bet you sell it locally fast. Good luck!

    3. I hear ya on the dogs. I prolly wouldn't have bought TGH if it had been earlier in life (when I still had puppies).

  8. First I sold my Ninjacapoop, then I put my RV up for sale, then I...

Is this the end of the New Mexico's last real-life outlaw? Our very own High Plains Drifter? Forevermore? To be transmorgified into just another "retired person?" Oh NOOoooooo....there goes my personal vicarious life by proxy..............look, Buck, anybody can live life as a just another "retired person"--what the H do you think I'm doing?

    1. I'm still thinkin' about that Harley... not to be redundant, or anything.

  9. PS: What you have to understand, Buck, is all of this is centered around what's good for me and my personal reveries--I don't give a damn about what's actually good for you... :)

  10. NO! Whatever you do, don't tell Roddy The Wondercar. He's even older. He'll get all paranoid.

  11. Assuming that’s the correct pricing, stand firm, don’t budge, unless of course you don’t get any takers within…your predetermined acceptable timeline.

Just sold a jet ski, 1998 SeaDoo GSX Limited, on Craigslist. Had a couple dudes come tale a look and the “Well ‘this & that‘…. Are you set on the price…?” BS began. I told ‘em. “Look, I’ve got twenty other people interested (no lie) if you don’t want it for my price, somebody will buy it”.

Sold it the next day. (And literally bought a new pair of shoes (actually sneakers).

Hung tight, everyone thinks they need to negotiate. Eff ‘em, it’s worth what you’re asking, nothing less.

  12. I think I set a fair price and I AM gonna stick to it. NADA sez it's worth $9,450.00 and I'm just under that at $9K.

    1. It's a very fair price for that car, especially with a new top and all the maintenance records available for inspection. It has plenty of life left in it.

  13. 2nd car or bike, 2nd car or bike... ummm, when you put it that way, it really makes sense to just let it go.

So as pointed out above, you've let go of the (other) bike, the RV, and now TGH, almost looks like you're putting down roots?
What's next? you gonna plant a garden? Take up mini-golf? ya gotta chase something Buck, stay busy!

    1. Yeah, I'm getting rooted... I thought about moving to ABQ but decided against it; too much hassle. As far as chasing stuff goes... do wimmen count? I HOPE so!

I used to chase wimmen, but then I learned the Green Beret motto "don't run, you'll just die tired"...

    3. @Chester...

Heh! I don't chase wimmens these days. But, I will die tired, regardless...

I did my fair share of it in my teens...caught one, and settled in for the long haul.

Occasionally, I wish I'd have run a bit slower. But in the LONG HAUL, I think I came out okay.

NO! I came out with a diamond!!!

    4. Me? I'm kinda like the dog that caught the car in that space. Well, not really.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
