For the Record

The Dowager Tart is home.

Ya think The Green Hornet is jealous?  She's lookin' a lil green.  Wait...

So anyhoo... I was sound asleep this morning when the dealer called at 0930 hrs and told me the car was ready.  I showered while the coffee was brewing, poured me a cup to take on the road, lit a cigar, and lit out for The Big(ger) City™.  We're home now after driving Robert, my sales guy, back to Clovis and making a short trip to the Cannon Class VI store.  And do we like The Tart?  No.  We LOVE her.  I'll not go on at any great length except to say there are WORLDS of difference between TGH and TDT.  It's really amazing what a difference 12 years makes when it comes to automotive technology.

  1. Sweet. I love its stance. And really love the big flares over the front wheels. She's a beauty. RWD V6, right? I bet she's got some good giddy-up.

    1. RWD V6, right?

Right. I'll NEVER own another FWD car... EVER (I've owned one, a SAAB 9000). I haven't put my foot into it yet, given as how she only has about 142 miles on her. But previous CTS'es I've driven have adequate pick-up. Not neck-snapping, just adequate, but certainly better than the Miata can generate.

And thanks for the kind words. I love the lines of this car.

  5. Congrats on the new Cadillac. I drove them for years and found nothing can beat the ride even with the tighter suspension of the newer models. I'm sure TGH is jealous!

  6. You know which neighbor we're referring to, stop pretending! ;)

It is a very nice looking car... I can almost hear me saying to myself, "I guess all the red ones were sold" but I told that guy to shut-up 'cause I know some folks only buy white or black. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I had 3 Saab 9000's in 4 years, I liked them enough to put up with quite a bit of idiocy.

"About 142 miles" some folks say things about new cars that they've fallen in love with like, "about 142.7 miles" not like they're keeping track or anything.

And, did your neighbor like her ride to the city?

    1. Three Saabs? Wow, Marc... you're a glutton for punishment. ;-)

The neighbor and I aren't on the best of terms these days, Marc. Just sayin', without elaboration.

  8. I have a 2.2 liter(Honda S2000) that will whup that GM Euro wannabe.
Never forget GM (Detoit)made that Caddy.
Much like the 70s crap that you envyed so.
btw power to weight ratio is 8.
    Care to race?
I'll be in Roswell next month.
    Can you say Allison Supercharger?
    You know Allison, don't you?

    1. Care to race?

Sure. But let's make it interesting: $10,000.00 to the winner. You issued the challenge, I'll set the ground rules. We race from Roswell to ABQ, specifically the El Pinto restaurant in ABQ, where we'll each pick up a signed and date stamped menu, and return to the point of departure in Roswell (Wal-Mart parking lot, just as a suggestion). I'll provide three friends to ride with you, and you provide three friends to ride with me... assuming you HAVE three friends, which I kinda doubt, seein' as how you seem to be the type of person who enjoys pissing in other people's corn flakes. First party of four to arrive at the end point wins. Are we on?

Never forget GM (Detoit)made that Caddy.

Which is one of the primary reasons I bought the car I did. Detroit is still the leader in automotive technology and home of the largest automotive establishment in the world. I won't mince words here: fuck Honda.

      Fuck you, too.

  10. Last night I shared with Toby about your new Caddy. He was quite jealous. I will show him the pics tonight just to rub it in.

  11. Well, this Honda owner is coveting. Nice acquisition, my friend.

The car is nice, the lines are nice, but most of all I just wish I could park a loaded, new chariot like that with 142 miles on the odo, out in the opening. You probably can leave the keys in the ignition without a care in the world, and sleep like a baby. Damn California...

I do sympathize with the Green Hornet's jealousy streak there though.

    1. It ain't ALL sweetness and light here on THPoNM. I lock my car all the time but I don't feel uneasy about parking TGH anywhere in the area with her top down. That said, the glove box and center console are locked...

Thanks for the kind words, Morgan.

  12. Beautiful Buck and yes, well deserved.

I own a 2003 Acura TL and I loves me that car. Next year it will be time to trade her in for something else...and it's either gonna be another TL or that there CTS.

I will be watching here for reports.
