This Just In...

Hoo Boy...
Finalists have been chosen in the Fifth Annual Milbloggies.

I apologize for the slight delay, but voting will start on Monday, April 25.

The online voting will be handled by Voices Heard Media using their powerful and easy-to-use polls.

An announcement will go out by e-mail via the Milblogging.com newsletter and will also be posted on the Milbloggies site on Monday as soon as voting is ready to begin.

In the meantime (in no particular order), here are the 2011 Milbloggies Finalists.

Thank you to everyone who entered their nominations.

See the full list of Finalists here.
And why the "Hoo Boy?"  Only because this is the competition...

  3. We love you too, Buck. That was sweet (kiss, kiss).

So, when you drop the link to vote, please give us your objective opinion of which is the bestest...because I don't really follow any of these...to my shame, I guess.

  7. It seems that the quality and certainly the quanity of blogs from the military has slowed. Maybe it is not the "quality," but more like the interaction between blogger and reader is not what it used to be. More often than not, when I leave a comment on a new miliblog, I get no response or reaction. oh well.

  8. Well deserved, in my opinion. Blogfathers are important, but there's previous evidence on this site that the descendants can succeed as well.

The fact that both your sons could give orders to their dad doesn't mean that both of them aren't damn proud of the old man.

  9. I'm sitting here trying to think of an occasion where either son might give a direct order to the old man?

    ...or, want to.

Ah... the Younger Generation, eh? I'm thinkin' mebbe the kids don't realize what blogging etiquette is, or mebbe the etiquette has changed. OTOH, people like Lex who get hundreds of comments EVERY day can't possibly answer them all.

    Gordon: Thank ya, Sir!

Uncle Skip: I'm with you on the boys givin' me orders. They can kick my ass now that I'm old and frail but orders? I think not. ;-)

  11. My pop always said that I might be bigger and stronger, but that I would probably not win the argument with his .357. I take him at his word on that. ;)

  12. Good on you!

Now if only I could find a nice downhomey blog that discussed fine cigars, beer and benefits of the amusement value of watching hockey!

    :)

  13. I nominated you in AF category, dunno how you ended up in Veteran category. They just wanted active duty in those sections?

    Meh.

  14. Curtis: Heh.

Laurie: Yeah, the "Veteran" category IS weird, on all counts. Lex should be in the Navy category, as should TSSBP. The point bein' that nearly everyone in the "Vet" category posts almost exclusively about the branch they served in.

Another thing... I don't mean to take away anything from anyone who's ever served, but "Veteran" covers a whole lotta ground. I think there's a slight difference between the folks who did a "one and done" and people who made it a career. Just sayin'.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
