Well, We Beat Facebook to Death...

...so let's do Twitter!  I'm not gonna beat on Twitter, not really.  I LIKE Twitter and get a lot of good stuff from it.  That said, I found this while reading about that cool Facebook graphic I posted earlier today:

I found it surprising that Brazilians tweet more than Americans... at least today.  But isn't this graphic remarkably similar to the Facebook graphic, as far as Twitter's global penetration goes?  I think so.  The graphic is dynamic in that it shows tweets in real-time and is interactive in a limited sense.

  1. I don't "Facebook", and to my knowledge, I have never "Tweeted" either.

Seriously, no one needs to know - or wants to know - what I just had for dinner, or that I just bought paper towels at Target.

I hand-pick the people I correspond with, and when I *do* correspond with them, I don't want to be limited by a certain number of characters.

The world doesn't need to know everything last little thing about me.

There should be a *little* mystery, doncha think? ;)

  2. I hand-pick the people I correspond with...

I do that with Twitter, too. I generally don't follow people who Tweet about the mundane but there are a couple of exceptions. I follow 42 people/orgs right now... a mix of politicos, writers, humorists, bloggers, and orgs (e.g., USAF, CENTCOM, Fly_Navy). I'll also drop in to stuff that's current from time to time, like when the Iranian Green-near-revolution broke out in 2009. The information I get from tweets is amazing!

I rarely tweet myself: a grand total of two since June of this year. There ya have it Thimbelle: "Twitter and Me!" ;-)

  3. I don't twitter. Only used it to look up something twice. Once when there was an earthquake felt here, you could narrow down where it originated faster than USGS website had anything up. Once when I heard all of the fire trucks in town go out, then started hearing neighboring towns sirens too. For daily stuff, I don't want to be bothered.

I do have FB. I like it for pictures. And games. But I don't have my alerts delivered immediately, I log in at my own convenience.

  4. I have a twitter account, but rarely visit it and tweet even more rarely. It's a good quick access to Rasmussen, though.

  5. Laurie: I'm pretty sure we were Facebook friends once upon a time.

Moogie: You need the Twitter gadget for your mailbox. I hardly ever open my Twitter account page either... I get my tweets in my mailbox, from the gadget.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
