  1. Not ever Buck. As The Oracle and I sit on our back deck today I realize that every September 11 since 2001, that horrible day included, has been just the same - beautiful. Big blue sky, bright sun, soft breezes.

    Astounding.

  2. I get too pissed to even talk about it.

  3. Couldn't if I wanted to. So many emotions all at once, but I feel I owe it to those lost to keep the memory alive and fight on.

  4. Late to the dance, but "AMEN" to what y'all said. I did not post anything about it this year, but I'm still just as pissed as the morning of...

Every detail of that day is etched in my mind. Where I was, where my boys were, Pam on her knees reading the Bible, and crying...me trying to keep a stiff upper lip.

I know it musta been even rougher on a fellow with a couple of sons serving.

    Bastards!

  5. Buck, Amen. I'd never seen that particular pic of the Pentagon before. And that last pic always makes me wonder what would we have done if they'd hit the Capitol or the WH too?

  6. Thank you all.

Kris: It's a strange thing about the weather on this day. The weather on 9/11/2001 was almost perfect, as you noted.

I know it musta been even rougher on a fellow with a couple of sons serving.

Not at ALL. Quite the opposite, in fact. I found myself hoping The Boys would get a significant piece of the payback that was to come.

And that last pic always makes me wonder what would we have done if they'd hit the Capitol or the WH too?

LOTS of people have speculated on your thought, Dan. I'm grateful to the heroes of Flight 93 for doing what they did and preventing an even greater dimension to this tragedy.

  7. Hmmmm...I never looked at it that way, Buck. I guess I discounted the warrior aspect of it all.

I should not assume anything, but I'm reckoning the DILs were a bit more concerned. Could be wrong, though...good women want their men to do what they love. But, it must have been a very uncertain time for all getting ready to saddle up.

There was that. I found myself wishing I could have a piece of this one, too. But I know my limits and the AF ain't no place for an aged retread.

You're right about the women, tho. I'm thinkin' The First Mrs. Pennington and I might have had entirely different takes on the situation.

  9. I didn't post on 911 this year, but it is never far from my thoughts.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
