More Thievery

Nothing invokes waves of nostalgia in folks "of a certain age" than neon signage.  So I was quite pleased to see this brilliant piece at Blog-Bud Andy's place this morning...

(We have removed this video due to a pissing contest with the owner.  Too bad, that.  The vid was good but we're not willing to play silly games just to share it.  So be it.)

The smoky sax soundtrack is just frickin' perfect for the subject, innit?  And ya know what else?  Andy lives here.  As I said in his comments: this lil vid almost makes me wanna move back to the city.

  1. Glad I could hit that spot for you this morning.

And good on your Wings last night for getting the job done. Janky little interference call on Holmstrom there I have to admit. Didn't matter in the end.

  2. Fraser was pretty danged emphatic about that call, wasn't he? I have to give him (Fraser) the benefit of the doubt, tho... refs don't have replays. And Fraser is a pretty good ref.

The Wings need EVERY point they can get from here on out if they want to make the playoffs. I was a lil concerned in the second period, to put it mildly. I just finished reading the game wrap up and saw the Denver press was less than kind to the Avs. Undeservedly so.

  3. Uh, the guy who shot that neon video has a thing or two to say to you over at my place. Not sure why he did it there instead of here.

  5. Other Andy here...I tried to watch the vid several times today, and could not ever get it to load.

I thought it was just me. It might have been, but it could have been the pissing match or something.

Heck, I'd better go over to the real Andy's place and read that one!

  6. Holy crap! I went over there. Is it acceptable to say assho....oh, never mind. Man, I've NEVER seen anything like that.

    Seriously!

  7. Loosyana Andy: You can say pretty much whatever ya wanna say here, as long as ya don't insult the cook. We're all adults. Mostly.

  8. Read the exchange at Andy's place about this vid.

What a tool. I left a comment over there as well.

If it's on the Internet and available for embed or download w/out some nasty message or watermark displayed - then he needs to get over himself.

And I say this as a semi-professional nature photographer who publishes some of her work on her blog - in the great wide open for all to see and download.

And yes it's "All Rights Reserved"...but please. I'm not Ansel Adams. And this bozo isn't Martin Scorscese.

    Jeepers.

  9. I'm a day late and a dollar short on this one - so I don't know the whole story. But my son saw an ESPN commercial last night that included a snippet from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7uX9zP0SHo The video was made by one of my nephew's buddies. ESPN apparently used part of it in a commercial - I think it is pretty cool! That is my neph in the yellow shirt and blue shorts - the soccer player. I haven't found the actual commercial yet, but hopefully I can find it and show it.

  11. I deleted the whole post over there - just kind a sad and tasteless affair in the end.

  13. Late to the game here--didn't see the post. I've always loved neon art--whether in commercial signage or "art" art. And it's getting to be a lost art as well. Plus neon is expensive and for commercial, difficult & expensive to repair. Remember the old ORIGINAL Holiday Inn signs? Talk about a neon lover's paradise!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
