More Blog-Fodder From the In-Box and An Explanation

Yet another friend comes along to rescue this blog from my less-than-inspired day...
A little known fact....
The first testicular guard "Cup" was used in hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974.
It took 100 years for men to realize that the brain is also important.
Heh. And let us not speak of goalies and face-masks.
Speaking of hockey...
Pittsburgh Penguins players surround goalie Marc-Andre Fleury after their 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.

The prime reason I'm less than motivated today is my Beloved Wings lost a near-run thing last night, 4-2 (the last goal being an empty-netter). But Hey! It's only one game. We still lead the series 2-1, yanno.

  1. It makes you wonder what men have been thinking with all these years.

  3. Daphne, wait until he has worn it a whole season without washing it even once (because it brings him Luck), I can recommend several ways to detoxify and remove the smell of the thing, just let me know. After 12 years of my kids playing Ice Hockey and having to haul their gear around that whole time, I have learned a few things on the subject.

The best news of the Game last night was that #71 and #87 were held off the big board save for an assist's. AND, two of those goals were on the Power Play (throw away the empty netter) and you have a real contest.

I did see that the Great NHL decided to not enforce their fighting instigation rule on #71 (the other Great One). I don't understand why the rules apply to everyone but him!! Uggg!!!

  4. Lou: C'mon. You KNOW what we think with. :D

    Moogie: Heh.

Daphne: re: tapping out tunes. Now THAT'S creative!

Jimmy: Wasn't that "too many men" thing AMAZING? I read in various places today that one of the linesmen even shouted at one of the Pens to get off the ice. No smoking gun video of that, tho. The Wings are doing a good job of defending against both Crosby and Malkin... but it's costing them. Z's getting TOO much work.

  5. Yeah, that Z-guy is really good. I read a story in the P-burg press about how Detroit is getting all the breaks, how they didn't need the extra help and that they were getting away with playing two Goalies, Z being the second one! It was a funny read if you were pulling for Detroit.

I hope the best for tonight, really good teams dictate the terms of the contest and me thinks the Players want to Hoist the Cup at Home. The game tonight will be proof of that.

  6. Jacques Plante deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame not only for his prowess, but because he was the goalie who invented the mask :-)

A rare case of brains in equal measure to guts!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
