… presenting the World’s Greatest Military Aerial Demonstration Team…Your United States Air Force THUNDERBIRDS!
Doesn’t that just make ya wanna hit that VALOUR-IT “Donate” button? Just a lil bit? Go on, you know you want to…and Team Air Force NEEDS the help. Badly.
Well... it wasn't a bad video, but I certainly do not agree with the claim in the title of the post.
ReplyDeleteYou know where my loyalties lie. Beyond my bias, I think the Blues fly a tighter formation and put on a better show... all without G-suits or O2 masks. Just sayin.
Go Navy!
SN2 sez: all without G-suits or O2 masks.
ReplyDeleteDontcha ya think that's carrying the "do more with less" krep a bit far? ;-)
And I (also) think you hit the nail right on the head: Bias. Me being totally objective, of course.
From another completely objective point of view...
ReplyDeleteI don't even remember the last time I saw the Azure Angels...
I'm sure it wasn't because they left no lasting impression...or was it?
Hmmm...
Saw the T-Birds earlier this year in Vegas, as the CSAF was there approving this year's show. Great time!
Gotta go with the home team on this.
Why, praytell, do they fly without G suits and oxygen masks? Is that some sort of macho pilot crap? I'm imagining that HAS to limit the Gs they're allowed to pull?
I may have to conduct some research...
;)

lbumd...when your word verification matches your mood as a Blue Angel supporter...
Of course, if you *really* felt that way about the sound track, and gave *real* fealty to the junior flight demo team, you'd take some time and build your own video for Valour-IT, like, um someone else did this weekend...
ReplyDeleteJust sayin', you know ;)

And for the record, having seen both teams many times over, they're each fine in their own way. I do believe that the Blue's show is a little lower in altitude (while maintaining the requisite horizontal sep. from the crowd) than the T-birds - and that comes from a couple of shows having watched them perform same day ('course it was when they were both phlying Phantoms or after the switch to A-4s/T-38s...)
SJS sez: ...you'd take some time and build your own video...
ReplyDeleteSee: "dogs, old" and "tricks, new." As in...I followed the progress between your announcement of "something special" for Flight Deck Friday and the actual realization of said video, SJS. As for me... I'm trying to keep the frustration quotient in my life as low as possible, thankyouverymuch.
I, too, have seen both teams numerous times, beginning back when the 'Birds were flying F-84Fs. NO kidding... I was ten years old. As for the Blues, I think they were flying F11Fs the first time I saw 'em, which was a couple of years after I first saw the 'Birds. And I've seen 'em both in every subsequent airframe they've flown (except for the F-105, in the 'Birds case).
And you're fundamentally correct, SJS... both teams have their strengths. Ya gotta admit, tho, the 'Birds have the better color scheme...those all-white jets with the red, white, and blue flashes are just so spiffy! As opposed to the rather mundane, if not drab, blue/gold. YMMV, of course. ;-)
Ahh, vive l'differance,eh? ;)
