In Which We Deviate From the Norm

I did sumthin' today that I thought I'd NEVER do... I bought a pair o' jeans that aren't made by the descendents o' Levi Strauss.  Like this:

Wranglers.  I hate to admit it, but the principal driver here was cost.  Have you looked at what Mr. Strauss' descendents are asking for a garden-variety pair o' 501s lately?  Those Wranglers you see above cost less than HALF... much less, when ya get right down to it... o' what ol' Levi is askin' for his jeans.  So we bit the bullet and bought a pair o' Wranglers.  We'll throw 'em in the wash later on today and will begin wearin' 'em tomorrow.

It's the end... mebbe... of an era.  I've been a 501 kinda guy for over 40 years now but all that is liable to change.  In the meantime it's a beautiful day here on The High Plains o' New Mexico and there's beer that needs drinkin'.  So it's out to the verandah... in our 501s... to drink us some Sammy Adams Summer Ale.

  1. The Wranglers are more durable and fit better, in my experience.

    1. I hope I can bring myself to love 'em, Barry. It hurts to abandon something you've had a life-long love affair with.

  2. Funny, I was/am never a big jeans wearing guy, even as a teenager but, like the Dos Equos Man, "when I do," they seem always to have been Wranglers, but can't for the life of me remember how I got started--probably because that's what my Mother bought me as a grade-schooler..

    1. My mom bought me Billy the Kid double-knee jeans. I hated her for that. ;-)

  3. Wrangler's are a good choice. They just fit better than Levi's, for me anyway!
Besides, you can't beat that Wally*World price.

    1. Like I said, Ed... price was the driver. I can't believe how inexpensive these jeans are.

    1. But... I am not now, nor was I ever, a cowboy.

  5. I've been wearing Wranglers for the past 22 years. The low cost and the longevity are impressive, believe me! Used to be that those Wranglers were selling at K Mart for twelve bucks vice $30+ for the San Francisco denims.

You might see if you can send back your old Levi's to the Home Office to get them replaced. I had heard that the lifetime warranty covered wearing out.

    1. The cost delta is now $15.00 for Wranglers at Wally-World vs. $48.00 for 501s at Levi.com. That's significant.

I'll look into that warranty thing.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
