I have an advanced and highly developed case o' acrophobia, so just LOOKING at this picture made my knees all watery:
I know these guys and gals... loadmasters... wear safety harnesses, but still...
Aiiieee, Part Deux: I have to be in Lubbock around this time tomorrow for my follow-up appointment with a urologist (explained here)... instead of just beginning my second cup o' "morning" coffee as we are right now. My appointment is at 1300 hrs MDT, which means I'll have to leave P-Ville NLT 1000 hrs tomorrow morning... which is a full two hours before I rolled outta bed today. I don't feel bad about sleeping until noon, especially considering I didn't go to bed until 0600 this morning. But I'm gonna have to live a lil differently today and tomorrow and I'm NOT lookin' forward to that. I foresee some sorta sleep-aid in my immediate future.

I don't know if I could stand there or not, but I would like to try it.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Lubbock - Hub City. Or as much fun as anyone can have visitin' the urologist.
You're braver than I, Lou. And thanks for the good wishes.
DeleteGoin' to Lubbock this am, eh? One of my best friends, college roommates and fraternity brother was taking his plt tng at Reese in Lubbock at the same time I was doing the same thing down in Del Rio at Laughlin. Boy was I envious! Plt tng at Reese was just like extended college with Texas Tech and all the college co-eds, football games, etc. My Pleasure-Dome down in Del Rio? Yeah, right..
ReplyDeleteWorse, I committed a self-inflicted wound by flying up one weekend with three other classmates near end of training in a Cessna 172 to party over the TT-Iowa State football weekend (early fall 67--dullest football game I ever watched--both teams were dogs back then) BIG MISTAKE. I saw how the other side lived. If I had gone up at the start of plt tng I'd have probably committed suicide at the prospect of returning to Del Rio, lol..
I wish the AF hadn't closed Reese. I'd much rather live in Lubbock than Portales, which is a lot like Del Rio... come to think on it... except for being smaller and without the obvious attractions of a border town. Think: cheap tequila and other "stuff."
DeleteThe lanyard you wear makes everything semi-safe. Just don't unhook the lanyard while the door is open!
ReplyDeleteFlying over water is usually pretty smooth, but he better be holding on to something when they get into the mountains, as it can be quite a thrill being bounced around in the thermals.
Lanyard or no... you wouldn't catch ME standing there... as previously noted.
