Not Your Father's Air Force XX
I came across this last night, via a USAF tweet...
Another view...
I was gonna post this without comment, but... A ceremonial uniform that's only worn by two individuals? We're beginning to look a lot like this, and that's just wrong.
Hell, Buck, when you're not producing fighters anymore, and are rapidly retiring those the US DOES have, and running the bomber/transport force into the ground with no new replacements in sight, you've got to put your money into something..,,,but even so, YE GODS!
(PS: I know you're a busy bee, but be sure to head back to the post about old Delbert--I've left a couple of comments and a suggested recommended web-sight for booze..)
Hey... we're building the F-35, which may or may not work. And Boeing's gonna build us a new tanker next year, assuming funding ain't cut. And we have C-17s comin' out our ass... so thangs aren't all THAT bad, eh? ;-)
YHGTBSM! When did Hermann Goering take over the US Air Force? That uniform is a freaking joke. It's from a bad comic opera. What self-respecting airman would wear THAT? I'd rather parade in my skivvies then be caught dead wearing THAT. They've turned my Air Force into a joke. Has everyone in DC gone stark raving mad? OMG. I think my head is going to explode.
VX, you hit the nail on the head. Hell, let's just disband the Air Force and build more carriers and give the Army more helos.
Every time I say "Now I've seen everything..." Something like this comes along. Jumpin' Jesus, they do look like Soviets from the bad old days. Hell the CMSAF looks like freaking Zhukov from WWII. What the hell is my Air Force coming to? Where was the change of command ceremony? On top of Lenin's tomb?
The other thing I liked was the artistic crop job on the second photo that makes all of' em look like they're caught in the prop-wash from Hell. THAT was cute, too.
WTF! Then I remember the Russian Bears @ Barksdale AFB. You could say they're getting ready for the transition. After all, we depend on the Russians to get us to the ISS. Or it could be plain uniform envy. Either way, it still sucks. Tom
Great post. I found it when researching a write-up I was doing myself since I couldn't find anything official about that uniform combo. Funny that the only "official" USAF statement is the caption on their instagram photo. What a day we live in.
I like you Soviet flag uniform link a lot. It reminded me of some photos from Russia's Victory Day parade back in 2009. Talk about "medal inflation." Check out picture #7. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/05/russia_observes_victory_day.html
Thanks for your comments and also for dropping by, Ottokar. I especially liked the pics from Boston.com... which kinda-sorta fired off a few old synapses. If you follow my link you'll note I told a friend o' mine it felt eerie standing there, knowing as I did there were five or six MIRVs with our EXACT coordinates programmed into them. ;-)

Nice rant, Sarge! Srsly.

Don't ask, Don't tell... 'nuff said...
ReplyDeleteBut I DIDN'T ask!

You're right, tom: it sucks.
DeleteMaybe Michelle Obama designed these uniform to go along with the crap she wears.
ReplyDeleteThat's as good a premise as any I've seen or heard, Anon.

DeleteWhat a crop of d-bags.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like something a Russian AF officer might wear -- certainly not American. Of course, the USAF does need a new uniform.
