Stolen...

... from Blog-Bud Mike:

I loves me a good double-entendre, but this one is just over the top. The woman's expression at the very end of the ad is classic! One assumes this is, in fact, a real ad... even if I never saw it.

It is positively a real advertisement, and THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to see it once again.

I was about 16 or 17, as I recall, the only time I ever saw that advertisement on TV. It was, in a word, memorable. I was sitting in somebody's living room, with five or six buddies, watching TV, and that ad came on. To a man, we literally fell on the floor laughing. For the next few days, we'd repeat lines from it ("The idea is to bust your opponent's balls!") and go into laughing fits all over again.

We only saw it once, but I guarantee that every one of us remembers it to this day. I never thought I'd see it again.

  2. Well, now! Maybe "Ballbuster" was one of those "regional" things. Or maybe it hit while I was overseas, and I was overseas a LOT during the '70s. Either way... I'm glad that ya got a few good memories out of it, Jim.

  3. WHAT?! Oh, I was so born in the wrong generation to have missed something like this when young.

Sigh... thanks for sharing this video.

  4. I don't know that it was regional. I think that it somehow got on air by being previewed by folks without a clue. When it actually aired, there were probably a huge number of complaints and so it was pulled forever. Consider the time period. We saw the ad ONCE and never saw it again.

  5. And congratulations on the birth of your great grandson. I would place this in the other blog post, but it looks like IE is acting up again for your site. Both the announcement and the frozen pipe post have mysteriously vanished.

  6. Thank you for the heads-up, Michelle. At least four posts have gone missing in IE. O! How I HATE Blogger sometimes!!

  7. Sorry, Buck. I meant great-granddaughter in my other comment! My mistake.

I read your posts through my Google Reader now so I don't miss any. Too bad I can't write comments through there also.

  8. I've become aware of the exact cause of IE failures and will take the required steps to ensure ALL posts are visible in future regardless of which browser you use, Michelle. Hopefully there won't be any more IE failures.

  9. I noticed that the female in the ad looks like she was in Bewitched.

Also, the audio track looks ripe for a new video on top...

  10. This would be the perfect accompaniment to one of my recent posts, the comments seem to consist of men who've played this game one too many times.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
