... are playing with much less than a full deck:
And we're glad we're not in Buffalo*, where some areas got six feet... yes, six FEET, of lake-effect snow. So much for our recent bitching about a light dusting of the white stuff.

6 feet - it's hard to comprehend. I've seen 3 feet in 24 hours, just last year. But 6 feet??? Does not compute.
ReplyDeleteI think the most snow I've ever seen at one time is three or four feet. You're right: it IS hard to grasp.
DeleteGlobal Warming! Global Warming! Global Warming!
ReplyDeleteHeh.
DeleteUsed to sail professionallly. I still remember very well the day that Pat Cooly called off the races on the Severn and Chesapeake Bay due to the wind. Some of us hung around the Crown Sailing Center at USNA and sure enough, a grad showed up to show us his sailing metal.
ReplyDeletei'm not going to exaggerate. It was blowing 30 with gusts into the 40s when this guy pulled up on the pier there with his wind surfer and proceeded to download it for a little sail to show us 'amateurs' what real naval academy sailors were like. I wish there was video of the moment he pulled that plank off the roof of his car and had it catch the wind.
It tossed him 100 feet on his but as it caught the wind. At that point, we all raised our illegal beers in that place and toasted him. His sail blew into the river.

DeleteYou got THAT right! Nice story. I just LOVE it when some asshat gets his or her comeuppance.
