Home-made red chile tamales!
When it comes to culinary delights, there ain't much in life that's better than home-made tamales. Mmmm-mmm-mmm!
DIL Erma's sister Sulie stopped by the day before yesterday and dropped off a dozen of these beauties, relieving me of evening kitchen duties for three or four days. Well, cooking duties, I should say. We still had to make a salad and pour our beer.
Life's been Hell since the maid quit, but kindly relatives help ease the pain and the inconvenience.

Oh man, homemade tamales are GREAT... Next weekend... sigh
ReplyDeleteYep, they sure ARE.
DeleteThey look fantastic! Please tell me they're made with pork and not beef.
ReplyDeleteYup... pork it is.
DeleteI never thought about nuking 'em... always use the steamer basket in a covered pan.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm jonesin' for tamales ...dang!
You must have one of those industrial-sized steamers. My steamer wouldn't even hold one of these tamales.
DeleteIt's a collapsible thing we got at Safeway.
DeleteIf push comes to shove, I have been known to use the pasta cooker instead.
They look good. Real good. I never think of tamales without thinking of a Mexican restaurant we pass by on I-30 as we travel to TX. I believe it's in Texarkana. It's name is "Ta'Molly's"
ReplyDeleteTex-Mex is a whole 'nuther animal when it comes to Mexican food. It's good and I like it... but it IS different.
DeleteI don't think three of those would be enough for me.
ReplyDeleteThree and a big-ass salad works for me.
DeleteThank ya, Sir.
