Jes a Couple o' Things

First...

Heh.  Hillary is such an EASY target yet I suspect we'll get awfully damned tired of her before 2016 is done and gone.

And then there's this...

Yup, two years ago today.  Robert, the salesman at Bender GM who sold me the car, called me up at precisely 0838 hrs yesterday morning to inquire about how things were between The Tart and myself, in addition to the above e-mail.  Both events were nice touches (and it's the first time I've experienced after-sales behavior like this, ever) but I wish Robert hadn't called at what passes for oh-dark-thirty these days.  We retirees need our beauty sleep, yanno?  That said, these past two years have flown right by.  I'm still in love with the oh-so-lovely, graceful, and speedy Dowager Tart... I think I'm gonna keep her.

  1. I don't get it??? 1) She's fat, 2) she's ugly, 3) she's an asshole, 4) her husband left her years ago, 5) she's lied about everything since she was 5 years old. Why is she still on page 1?

    1. Some things are simply inexplicable. This is one.

  2. No comment on your first.

I took a good hard look at the CTS, as a replacement.
GM's efforts at recouping their losses via my wallet stopped me in my tracks.

    1. ...besides the Honda's still gotta lotta miles left in her, unless some other driver has their way with me.

    2. I wouldn't buy a 2014 CTS for the exact same reason you cite, Skip. GM raised the price on the car by a whopping 20% and that's just too damned much for me. The CTS I bought was priced appropriately, but the new ones? No, thank you.

Here's hoping no other drivers have their way with you. ;-)

  3. la voiture est trop cher20 June, 2014 16:03

I want a new car, but after clicking all the options on the web pages the prices are way out of my reach. When I go to the used car lots, I can't get past the fact that most of them have probably been submerged in some hurricane :-) Plus the fact, the people they hire to sell cars hasn't changed since the Model-T... All of them don't even know who their fathers are.

But the car, what a car. (Before 0900????? Nice touch but yeah, that's a might early.)

    1. About that call... I ALMOST... but not quite... told Robert to go foxtrot hotel. But even in my just-awakened state I realized he was just bein' nice. Big points to ME for that.

    2. I understand.

You DO get big points for that. In the grand scheme of things...

  5. Jeez, target-rich environment here. . .

True story - sometime around the arrival of our 6th child, Jenn & I went looking for a full-size van that could handle our burgeoning brood. The only place in town we could find one was at Shady Harry's on the edge of town (not the real name, but you get the idea), so we plugged our noses and went to have a look. When we sighed heavily and decided that, OK, we'll buy it, the sales-troll grinned and said, "Wow, thanks, I really need this sale; my girlfriend's pregnant, and my divorce isn't final yet. . ." There is value in knowing just a bit more about your customer than that. . .

But go just a little easy, guys. . . some of us still depend on things like CTS sales for our daily bread. . . ;)

An' jeez, Bill will turn 70 before the next election; Hillie can't be far behind. . .

    Foxtrot hotel . . . I see what you did there. . .

    1. So... didja buy the van? I can't even imagine a sales person saying sumthin' like that to a prospect. No, wait. "Used cars."

In re: the new CTS. The car is almost a lottery fantasy now. Have you looked at what GM is asking for the thing?

In re: Billary. I just HATE it when the sleaziest of sleazy pols are younger than me. ;-)

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
