Losses

I was curious about what was goin' on in the world on a certain day back in March, 1945.  There's an app for that... called Times Machine... but you need a subscription to the NYT to use it.  (Yes, I subscribe.  So shoot me.)  So here's what was up on that certain day:

You'll note I highlighted an article... and here it is in its entirety:

Unimaginable.  Over 20,000 lives and 2,050 bombers... lost.  The American public would never stand for those kinds of losses today.  Nevah hoppen, Gee-Eye.

  1. Nope and yet we have an endless stream of people that want to keep arming for that war so they can fight it again. Nobody who's done it wants to do it again. I confess I cannot understand people who believe it is our duty to prepare to go and fight for other people who don't see the need to save themselves.

    1. In re: yer confession. I pretty much agree we shouldn't lift a finger to help those who will not help themselves.

  2. My dad and mom (from Metz area) told me the worst fear they had was seeing American planes overhead. The joke was that when the Americans bombed, everyone ran ran for cover! I guess they weren't too accurate.
