Saturday: Springsteen?

Yup... TWO of 'em:

I gotta give props to both Fallon and Springsteen; that was pretty good.  And speakin' o' rock stars...

No!  Don't kill Ziggy!  Don't EVER kill Ziggy!

  2. It begins with a back-story. When getting my MA at the Univ of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette In the spring of '72 I taught a required survey class as a TA called "Democracy & Communism." Early on I spied this brunette foxy soph from N.O. and by her mere demeanor my experience and "spidy-senses told me: "This little gal is a player! Fast forward to 1975. My wife & I were at an apt party for a fraternity bro of mine visiting from Sandy Eggo. Late in the evening we collective decided to catch the very late last set of New Orleans' local equivalent of Etta James (Erma Thomas) at the Maple Leaf bar. (Did I mention there was also a rock concert going on in town that night with this new guy Bruce Springsteen?) By the time we arrived at the Maple Leaf we were well fortified and, arriving late to a packed house we all caught the action by doing our best to hold up a wall in the back. All of a sudden I hear this voice from the gal to my left say: "Why hello Professor XXX!" It was my gal Penny from USL! And who did she have standing next to her? Yes indeed, Bruce in all his white T-shirt w. the cigs-rolled-up-in-his-left sleeve & blue-jean-clad glory. They had obviously just come from his concert. She introduced us and we both reached across her to shake hands. I thought to myself: "Can I pick 'em or what! Of the hundreds of groupies undoubtedly crashing backstage trying to get in the pants of *The Boss*--of ALL the available gals in New Orleans--who but *MY* gal ends up with him!" LOL!
