Balad AB? Baghdad Airport?

Nope... that's Cannon Airplane Patch about an hour ago.  We're havin' another one of "those" days here on the High Plains o' New Mexico, otherwise known as a "dust event."  Like this (note the humidity, or lack o' same):

I've seen worse in that our winds are only gusting to 40 mph today.  Some days we get steady winds o' 40 mph and gusts in the 60 mph range.  So we'll thank The Deity At Hand for small favors.

Drivin' out to the base and back was... ummm... interesting.

Yeah, that's the word I was lookin' for: interesting.  Needless to say: we'll be takin' Happy Hour indoors today.

  1. Hope these events don't harm the Tart's paintjob.

    1. I don't worry about that much, Inno. The Green Hornet survived well over ten years in this environment without serious damage to her paint. No damage, actually... at least none that the eye could see.

  2. Damn!

That's one reason why I don't care for the desert. There are others.

    1. We rarely have blizzards, though. And you don't have to shovel dust... most o' the time. ;-)

  3. I meant to comment yesterday to say just be thankful you don't live near the salt flats of Great Salt Lake. There "salt-storms" have not only been known to peal the paint of cars, but turn windshields opaque via salt-blasting. NOT a pretty sight..

  4. I blogged weather stuff today, so I won't go into it again here. Sand has it's uses, but for the most part it is a a pain.

    1. It's not so much sand as it's DUST... very, very fine particles o' dust!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
