... are the looks I get from the neighbors and passers-by when they see me drinkin' beer and smokin' a cigar on the verandah at 1100 hrs. Like this:
Well, screw 'em. We do it because we CAN.
For the record: bedtime at 0015 hrs, wakey-wakey at 0730; I feel almost normal. But as for that "healthy, wealthy, and wise" krep: I'm oh-fer-three. I don't think ol' Ben knew what the Hell he was talkin' about.

You need to make a sign to hold up when they stare...
ReplyDelete"I'm retired...
...so GOML!"
Or invite 'em over. There are some pretty nice passers-by in the 'hood. ;-)
DeleteWell, ya know, the sun is ALWAYS over the yardarm somewhere.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'...
(By the way, you look way too damn comfortable in that photo. Makes me jealous it does.)

DeleteDidn't Jimmy Buffet say sumthin' like that, once upon a time? I WAS comfortable, but the wind drove me indoors. Mebbe it'll subside, later.
If you'd been seen doing that at 1100 today in California, you'd already be looking for a new apartment.
ReplyDeleteI gotta get outta here.....
NM is nice, Rob. Just sayin'.
DeleteI think the "early to bed" deal that Ben was talking about was kind of a "period" thing. Ya' know...like when the sun goes down.
ReplyDeleteSee, there's your trouble...
Heh. That and the fact there ain't really a REASON to go to bed early now, is there?
DeleteYou could just put a little vodka in your orange juice and no one would think anything about your drink in the AM. If I did that, I'd be asleep by noon.
ReplyDeleteHey! A Tequila Sunrise is THE way to go! Just add Grenadine Juice and you're ready to party! GREAT breakfast drink! (I always use SAUZA Gold--probably the smoothest--and BEST--of the lower-cost "commercial" "non-specialty" brands compared to the recent trend into the more expensive"designer" brands marketed almost exclusively to us "Gringos." Most Mexicans drink Sauza..
Delete@Lou: Vodka and I don't get along.
Delete@Virgil: In re: ...the more expensive"designer" brands marketed almost exclusively to us "Gringos." Well, marketing is marketing, but I know for a fact The First Mrs. Pennington... who's about as Mexican as Mexican gets... is in to those boutique tequilas; she introduced me to one that knocked my socks off... it was excellent. From an old post:
A tequila worth checking out: El Jimador. Incredibly smooth and tasty sipping tequila; the shots go down so well it makes you wonder what hit you after the fourth one… Thanks to TFMP for turning me on to this!
Tequila - even better!
Delete¡Sí!
Deletejust remember, it´s always 4 o´clock in the afternoon somewhere. and if the neighbors can´t tell time, that is their problem.
ReplyDeletePhil, Msgt USAF Ret, (and almost retired in real life)

DeleteMy mantra, Phil. My mantra!
