... will be slightly delayed while I wait for feeling to come back to my upper lip. Yes, I'm recently home from yet another installment of Adventures In Modern Dentistry, this time it was to take impressions for my new bridges and implants. Dr. Thompson had to numb me up for a little laser clean-up work and to remove and replace the temporary upper bridge I've been wearing since September last. There's light at the end of the tunnel: our new implants and bridges are scheduled to be installed on March 20th. Yays! and Huzzah!
There's no reason to delay today's Happy Hour soundtrack, though. We'll be listening to a lot of this sorta stuff (sambas!) once I can feel my lip again...
I heard this tune on XM while I was out and about this afternoon. There was a point in time when I was a BIG fan o' Brazil '66 and I'm still pretty much a fan. Just not as much as I used to be.

God bless you. I'm glad to hear you're nearing the end of the line insofar as dental nightmares are concerned. You know I empathize, a lot.
ReplyDeleteI do know, Jim, and thanks.
DeleteWhat Suldog said. Seriously good news on getting near the completion of the dental stuff.
ReplyDeleteAs for Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66, my parents were big fans back in the day, had a number of their albums. I actually would listen to them on my own. Really good stuff. Made my Dad say that I wasn't a complete heathen after all.
That bit of music brought back some very good memories. Thanks Buck.
And best of luck with the dentistry.
Thank ya, Sir. Strangely enough, Sergio Mendes and Herb Alpert were two artists my father and I could agree on. My Mom was easy, she loved rock 'n' roll.
DeleteI first started out with Herb Alpert (Iknow, I know..) but the ONE album I REALLY like is nothing by Brazil 66--who are ok--but the classic Stan Getz/Charlie Byrd album Jazz Samba--used to listen to it repeatedly for hours while alone when I was deep "in my cups" over some un-requited love from some femme fatal while in college..
ReplyDeleteGetz did a lot of latin-oriented stuff, as I recall. I never bought that many jazz albums, except for a few "best of" and "The Essential" things, just so I don't look like a Philistine.
DeleteNow I will be dancin' around the house all day. Like.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the tune catchy? Nothing makes me smile more!
DeleteJust heard this in Brazil a few weeks ago... very cool. Loved it down there. Beef paradise!
ReplyDeleteOoooh... you just pushed the "envy" button. I had a trip scheduled to Brazil back in the day but Paula stepped on it, telling me I wasn't going ANYWHERE while she was in her third trimester with SN3. A number of my associates went multiple times and everyone raved. Brazil is still on The List.
DeleteOoh... brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteI saw Brazil 66 live at the Frost Amphitheater on the Stanford University campus back in '68.
Sergio Mendes even explained why they did change the name each year. [GRINS]
The other part of the post brings on some memories, too.
It's worth the wait to have it all done proper and worth going back for adjustments when necessary.
It IS worth the wait to have things done correctly in this space. That said, we ARE getting impatient and it will be good to have this behind me. Thanks for the sentiment, Skip.
