    1. Really? Same accent, too?

    2. The folks who built Shasta Dam were mostly from Oklahoma and Arkansas.

  3. My wife uses some of those phrases. Of course, she is from the South.

    South Korea...

    1. Yeah, some of those phrases are pretty universal.

  4. I didn't notice anythang odd about anythang those women said. But what do I know? These days I'm just hotter'n a piss ant in a pepper box. When my mom said, "piss ant" it always came out more like "piss aint." I'll holler back at ya later.

    1. There wasn't anything in that vid I hadn't heard before... nothing. Didja watch Vol One, too? Lots o' "bless her heart" in that one.

Uncle Skip; We called the folks up in Anderson and Cottonwood, "Oakies". I didn't know they really were from that region. (Disclaimer; I used to be involved with a girl who lived on Happy Valley Road. She sells Real Estate out there today).

    1. Which one? There were three! I liked the one in the orange in the opening scene...

    3. Ha!
When I lived in Redding, we called 'em goat ropers. Now that I live in Anderson it only applies to the folks from Cottonwood.

There've been a few changes made over the past few years. The communities of Summit City, Central Valley and Project City combined and incorporated to become Shasta Lake.
That didn't change things much. They're still the same folks who built the dam... just the next couple of generations.
Some day they'll realize the dam was finished and they can't get work logging any more.

Happy Valley Road covers lot of ground.

  6. "If you don't stop crying, I'm going to give you something to cry about."

I heard that often. And My Mom was (is) sweet and loving. But she sure liked to use that one!

Aside: One of those women looks a lot like someone in my class at broadcasting school. I was at least 7 or 8 years older than everyone else, so I guess it's possible. I'll check the credits.

    1. My Mom used that one a lot, too. That and "wait until your father gets home!"

    2. I don't think either of those are particularly 'southern'. At least, this northern boy heard 'em a LOT. . .

  7. No, I guess not (unless she changed her name.)

  8. That woman supposedly from TN who said TN barbeque was best was a little too snooty actin' for me, but she was right about the barbeque of course. And at a younger age I frequently had a "knot jerked in my tail" by my mama.

    2. I guess none of you have ever had Minnesota BBQ. Until you've had pulled lutefisk, you haven't lived.

Just kidding. Don't go looking for it.

    3. I'm certain that there is such a thing, somewhere. You KNOW what they say say: "Nothing's impossible."

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
