The Deity At Hand Smiles Upon Us

Particularly where this is concerned:

It feels really good out in the sun this afternoon... it's warm beyond belief, especially considering how freakin' CHILLY it was in ABQ the past few days and considerin' the date on the calendar.  Late November and nearly 72 degrees?  Oh, my... YES.  We won't look gift horses in the mouth, though... we'll just enjoy one of the few remaining nice days that we have left...out on the verandah with both beer and cigar in hand.

I didn't pack very well for our recent sojourn in ABQ, what with only packing a single sweatshirt, no sweaters, and just ONE light jacket.  I got pretty chilly during Happy Hour on SN1's verandah as a result, but we persevered.  I'll know better when we go back up that way in three weeks time.

  1. Other than the wind blowing on Friday, it has been beautiful here too. My sister and I sat out on the patio for our happy hour and time alone, but eventually everyone found us and joined us. The cold front that blew in on Thursday night and Friday, was not really much. Yep, I was thankful.

    1. It was COLD in ABQ... so I was glad to get home Saturday. We have a cold front blowing in today; our high is supposed to be something like 57.

  2. Much the same here, too. But we're due for a huge rain blitz starting Wednesday... something about the Pineapple Express meeting up with some frigid stuff.

  3. OT, Buck, but I've been meaning to ask. Did you ever work on that "Trough 9" collection listening "ear" at, was it Greenham Commons or was it High Wycomb? Inquiring minds..

    1. If you're thinking of the FLR-9 that was at Chicksands (and a lot of other places), no. I worked on the FLR-12 at Wakkanai AS, Japan and at Sinop, Turkey. Both systems had the same purpose... i.e., ELINT/SIGINT, but monitored different parts of the spectrum.

  4. "Facepalm" You're right! I'd TOTALLY forgotten about Chicksands! (We played them in Basketball, btw when I coached the Bentwaters "Phantoms" Coached them to a UK Championship, btw, ahem.--can't remember playing them in tennis, tho. They had terrible BB teams but were tough in football during my time--go figure )

    1. Chicksands was one of the AF's "best kept secrets." It was a beautiful lil base in a wonderful location... picturesque to the MAX, not too far from London, and free from obnoxious airplanes. Almost as good as Uxbridge, LOL!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
