Potpourri

I often use this title to aggregate a number of unrelated subjects and Rowan & Martin used the word in a similar fashion back in the '60s for one of their segments on Laugh In.  So we went lookin' for an example o' such and came up empty... but we did find this:

Ah, Goldie.  You have NO ideer how much I lusted after this woman back in the day.  She's still pretty good lookin' for a woman of "a certain age."

―:☺:―

The on-line dating game is gettin' pretty danged specific in their targeted audiences... like this:

And this...

Wait.  That's not right, but the point is well-taken.  How in the... ahem... HELL can a blatantly commercial enterprise use a tagline like "Find God's choice for you?"  If I were Christian I'd be seriously offended by that.  Well, mebbe not "seriously," coz we don't get our panties in a bunch that easily, metaphorically speakin'.  But we would be somewhat exercised.

Where's my Buddhist dating site?

―:☺:―

Miscellaneous bitches, moans, and groans...  I went out to dust off The Tart yesterday (I dust her EVERY day)... barefoot... and stepped on a damned pebble.  Stepped on it hard, too.  Now I have a stone bruise on the bottom of my foot and I'm reminded of this with every step I take.  Annoying.

I also have an embryonic zit on my right ear that's buggin' the shi'ite outta me.  I'm 67 frickin' years old and I still get ZITS?  What's wrong with this picture?

Decision time: housework or Happy Hour? We just MIGHT put the housework off for yet another day... it's been well over a week since we last engaged in domestic engineering; my sense o' shame prevents me from stating just how long it's been... because it's well past mid-November and our day looks like this:

Ain't too many of these left.  The vacuum cleaner can wait.

Oh, I'm pretty sure I've got some idea. Never knew exactly why, but she certainly inspired regular Chris Matthews moments, IYKWIMAITYD.

And that Christian dating service ad is just wrong on so many levels...

    1. Yup... I DO know what ya mean. And JoAnne Worley, too. JoAnne was closer to my (physical) envelope than Goldie, but ya know what they say: relationships are 99% vertical. So Goldie won on that point, alone.

  2. For some reason Goldie never turned me on--reminded me too much of Twiggy...never-mind the airhead factor--although in her later years Goldie has surprised as a quite thoughtful and informed person in many areas of public policy...but who needs THAT when what one REALLY needs is for a shapely lass to meet one at the front door after a long days work stark naked with a freshly-made libation of one's choice in her hand? lol

    1. Goldie's airhead act is what intrigued me most, as I ALWAYS suspected that it was an act, first and foremost. TSMP was like that, in a way, as she had the airhead thing DOWN... when she wanted to come across in that way. Just one of the reasons I loved that woman... that, and the fact she was a lot more zaftig than Goldie.

  3. Goldie Hawn is so - relatable. For some reason I too lusted after her but only because I think she'd be a blast to have as a girl friend. (please note the space in between those last 2 words...).

As to the video, I'm a Christian and I find it stupid, not offensive. I kept waiting for something "Onion"-like to come up. The fact that it's serious just shows how out of touch the folks at Christian Mingle really are - both with the world and their fellow-Christians.

    1. That ChristianMingle vid I posted WAS a parody, Kris, and wasn't serious in the least. The original ads, however, are just as bad, if not worse.

      I hear ya about Goldie.

  4. EXTREME lust myself for Goldie myself back in the day (I was about 12 years behind ya', but lust sometimes comes early, and she was really hot). As for the FarmersOnly vid...I could go for the chick in the cornfield.

JoAnn Worley didn't really do it so much for me...

I've still got it bad for Jobeth Williams, though...sure, she was never on Laugh-In as far as I know.

    But, she was/is hot. http://www.nndb.com/people/929/000024857/jobeth1-sm.jpg

    1. Jobeth is a hottie, fer shure. As fer Ms. Worley... I've always had a thang for the zaftig ladies, as noted above. She fit the bill.

  5. Goldie has always been one of my favorites. She is beautiful, smart and has Kurt Russell. Her birthday is Nov. 21, 1945 - pretty close to your age. I can do a pretty good air-head myself. Oh wait, maybe I was doing country/hick.

I have seen that farmers dating thang. Been thinkin' of signing Jesse up.

And what does JESSE think about that? ;-)

  6. Just about every time I see or hear Christian Mingle (and it seems like I only see the ads on ESPN), I am immediately reminded of some fictional character out of Dickens or Washington Irving. I can almost hear him saying, "Hello, I'm Christian Mingle."

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
