From The Guardian...
We've got everything from takeaway burgers to farmers, from boys' toys to classical music this week, kicking off with a flashmob for culture vultures – a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony to celebrate the 130th anniversary of a Spanish bank (it's great that a Spanish bank has found something to celebrate!). Check out the faces of the crowd – this performance will twang a few heart strings …
Twang the heartstrings? I guess! A brilliant piece like this restores my faith in humanity. Somewhat. But then there's this...
And finally... Need to cool off a bit? There's this:
The list was a whole lot better than usual this week. I suppose sometimes it bees like that.
Amazing to think that Beethoven was deaf when he wrote his 9th symphony.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for brnging this to oue attention.
ReplyDeleteDe nada, Brian.
DeleteHee, I was thinking that young girl must have put a big coin in his hat to get all of that!
ReplyDeleteEver notice how everyone records everything now-a-days? They all hold their "phones" in the air, as if to scoop the ether. It disturbs me, but I am a fossil, as they say.
Yeah... sometimes I "scoop the ether" too. Fossil even though I am. ;-)
DeleteThe flashmob was fun, but the water was better. It was hot this morning, and we had to work outside. I was wet, but not pleasantly. I may have to watch that again and again in slow mo.
ReplyDeleteI liked the 100 riffs best, meself.
DeleteOh my Hot news! Put this on your calendar: Rod Stewert is headed to Thackerville, Oklahoma! That's right, hold on to your green stamps, on 11 and 12 August. If you can't find someone to dance with, you're not trying :-)

Rod in a suit tells me EVERYTHING I need to know about this tour: all "Great American Songbook" and NO "Stay With Me." You could comp me tickets and a suite and I still wouldn't go.
DeleteThat thing with the riffs was 13 minutes of magnificence. I think I'm at about 88 or 89 percent. A few of the later ones, as tasty as they are, were new to me. LOTS of fun.

ReplyDeleteI think there's an echo in here.
ReplyDelete(I thought I lost my first comment in the ether. Sorry!)
Blogger seems slow today. I think the riffs thing was just super, too. The fact that guy could memorize and play those 100 riffs... flawlessly... blew me away.
