Today's Happy Hour Soundtrack...

... might better be titled "melancholy radio."  We continue to listen to Joni Mitchell radio on Pandora and we've been there all this week, for the sadness that's in it.  And we ARE that: sad -- for a number o' reasons.  I heard that "Paris" song again, which was followed directly by this tune from Carole King...

Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever gonna make it home again
It's so far and out of sight
I really need someone to talk to, and nobody else
Knows how to comfort me tonight

Snow is cold, rain is wet

Chills my soul right to the marrow
I won't be happy till I see you alone again
Till I'm home again and feeling right
Didn't anyone ever tell Ms. King you can never go home again?

  1. "You can never go home again." Sad but true!

  2. Any of us can go where ever we want, even home. Sometimes the price of admission is steep. And even if we do get back in, the smell may be a bit different.

Which, not to pick nits, means it's not home. Right?

  3. Good song choice for me. Toby and I spent the weekend in Lubbock enjoying your spring weather. It was a long day yesterday, but we finally made it home last night.

  4. Buck, I think maybe you can go home again, but when you get there you find (a) that it's changed too, it's not the "home" you remember, or (b) it's the same but the "home" in your memory has been enhanced and modified--the bad stuff suppressed and the good stuff made even "gooder." File that in either the "For What it's Worth" drawer or the BS drawer.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
