Hangover

Dang.  They hurt.  I haven't one of these damned things since I don't remember when, but it's been a couple o' years at the very least.  You'd think that one would get smarter as one grows older... but, noooo.

Ouch.  And owie.  Lotsa owies.

In other news... we'll be driving up to Leavenworth at the end of this month for to visit with the SN1 fambly and catch the Wings-Blues game on 4 April in St. Louis.  We were pretty well-oiled by the time SN1 went looking for tickets on the web and we dropped over 500 Yankee Dollars on two tickets for this game... on the glass.  SN1 sez this will check off an item on his Final To-Do List, to wit: See a Wings game "on the glass."  I've got that tee shirt, but I bought mine at The Joe.  Another one won't hurt anything except my wallet.  This otta be a great time, assuming we don't get the shit kicked out of us for wearing Wings jerseys in the enemy camp.

I can't wait.

  1. Well, HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!

Not the "Irish Flu." The time with son, and the upcoming good time in Saint Louie...

    1. It was very, very cool... even considerin' the Wings lost in OT last night... but that was just a minor damper on thangs. We got over it pretty quickly.

  2. Glad you had a good time with SN1, with more good times to come. Wings tics weren't a bad purchase, considering how risky it can be to go shopping on the web while well-oiled.

    1. I'm assuming you know a "certain sumthin'" about well-oiled on-line shopping, Red? ;-)

    1. That's an offer that's almost impossible to refuse, Lou. We'll keep that in mind.

  4. Excellent! Some St. Louis fans are pretty mellow, but maybe it depends on the sport. I know when the Red Sox won the World Series at Busch in 2004, there was a general OK, they haven't won in ages, let them celebrate" attitude from the native fans. I don't know that it carries over to the more macho sports, though.

    1. Hockey fans are generally well-behaved. I don't think we'll have any problems unless we go looking for 'em. Which we won't.

  5. Hangover? A former CO of mine once said: " Fine with me if you wanna hoot with the Owls all night, but just remember, that doesn't mean you don't still have to get up and scream with the Eagles early the next morning." LOL. 'Course in your case one of the advantages of "retirement" and the single life is all of that is a moot point, right, Buck? :)

    1. Precisely, Virg. Bein' retired and single means NEVER having to say you're sorry.

  6. Well, the hangover is evidence of an evening well-enjoyed. You can't ask for more than that, except perhaps some Advil.

  7. PS: The New Orleans "Underground Gourmet" once opined that it was impossible to get good food in St. Louis (LOL) but that was before Katrina and several chefs from N.O. have relocated there, but most work at expensive 4-star joints, so I consulted the TV series "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" website (I'm a big fan, ever watch it?" )and there are two places recommended: "Sweetie Pies at the Mangrove" and "Iron Barley." Check out the reviews on urbanspoon.com The ones on the first are mostly all favorable, Iron Barley is given mixed reviews, the two maj complaints being the high prices and service--tho others seem not to mind. Check out both, Buck! Maps& directions incl. (I'll bill you later for my finders fee. :) )

    1. When ya go to St. Louis you go for two (culinary) thangs: big-ass slabs o' red meat and the Q. But I'll check those out. Thanks, Virg.

  8. It seems to me I remember there is at least one place in St Louis where you can get good eats and listen to some good blues, too.

    1. I'm sure there are, Ivan. And I'm equally sure SN1 and I will find at least ONE.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
