Obama's Best Moment Yet

The president hosted the Chicago Blackhawks at a White House ceremony yesterday...

Not bad, Mr. President.  You pronounced "Toews" correctly and your remarks were generally on-point, not to mention being perfectly clear.

Not to take anything away from the current Stanley Cup champions but it's prolly gonna be a long time before the 'Hawks make a repeat appearance at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.   The 'Hawks might make the playoffs this year by the skin of their teeth, what with bein' only one point above eighth place in the West... and time growin' short.  I wouldn't take that bet.

One thing will remain the same at next year's Stanley Cup visit to the White House, though: the traditional honorary jersey presented to the president will still be red... with a BIG OL' WINGED WHEEL on it!  Apropos o' that... I wonder if the jersey will have Bertuzzi's number on it?  That would be a non-starter if MY name was Todd.  Just sayin'.

  1. Buck, you're gettin' soft in your old age; that's the second time in a week you've said sommat nice about Obummer! And you are totally mistaken about the jersey, it'll have a great big ol' flaming C on it and it will be going to PM Stephen Harper, not the big BO!

  2. Heh. Speakin' o' bein' on the bubble...

But. Fandom aside, the Flames just might could win it all. I mean... look at Philly last year: squeaked into the playoffs at the VERY last minute on a shoot-out goal in the last game of the season and went all the way to the Finals. Your Flames are comin' on at the right time o' year, but the playoff race in the West is as tight or tighter than I've EVER seen it. Another thing I love about hockey...

  3. Bertuzzi's number should be burned and retired. And so should he. Retired, anyway.

  4. I have sort of a hard time picturing the O as a hockey fan.

  5. Andy: Spoken like a true Avs fan. Bert has come into his own with the Wings and is a valuable piece-part of the team. That said... I suppose it's easy for me to let bygones be bygones.

Moogie: You and me both. His handlers prepared him well for this event. My personal opinion is The One wouldn't know the difference between icing in hockey and icing on a cake but he DID go through the motions in an appropriate manner. All credit to his handlers and NOT The One.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
