About That Window...

The window I'm talking about is in my post about the PBS Troubadours show.  As for the toon... it's from last week and is also from the usual source.  Unlike my peer in the toon I don't envy today's younger generation at all, given there's so much lethal stuff out there.  I still have most of my hair, too.

  1. Looks like the fellow in the toon peed his pants.

And yeah, looking back at the things I've done over the last 10 to 15 years, it's a wonder I'm still alive. I led a very fortunate life, given the crap that's happened all around me. These days, it's only worse.

  2. I'm behind in my comments (as well as other things I should have done today). I started to comment earlier and got sidetracked by art students. As to the "window" well, by the time I got to the appropriate age, the window was closing fast. So I got me a life partner and held on - it worked for me.

  3. Y'know, I've been thinking about that "Young Adults Having Less Sex" headline myself lately, and:

    1. As much as I'd like to think this statistic represents a return to common-sense morality,

    2. looking around me at the representative examples, I suspect that a lot of it has to do with the lack of attractiveness of the candidate pool.

I wouldn't want to either, and I was a dog, Dog.

I mean really, how appealing can the idea be when everybody you see of child-bearing age is still dressing like he/she's still in nursery school?

    WTF, Over?

  4. Matt: You and me both. I count my blessings EVERY day.

Lou: Ya done good. And well, too.

Or has more hardware in their body than what's on aisle three at Ace? And more ink than HP? Those two things are MY major hot buttons.

  5. I have to throw this out there. What exactly is "many young adults"? When I graduated from highschool in a class of over 500, I can count on one hand how many girls got pregnant and left school. 20 years later teaching highschool with a senior class of 40 students, there were probably 10 unwed mothers. I'm thinking "many young adults" are having lots of casual sex by my standards.

  6. Lou: "My standards" is exactly the issue. Standards just aren't the same as they used t'be.

  7. Boy I'm right with you there, Buck, being of the same age(+1 yr)/generation as you. And let me tell ya, being in "Swinging London" 68-71 amidst young damsels (who still luuuuvedddd them some yanks) post the pill, pre-aids was NOT for the faint of heart (if only to keep the blood flowing to appropriate parts :) )
