I think I need to go to Vegas.
ReplyDeleteSweet! I love that bird. I was stationed at Carswell AFB in 1976 when the Red, White and Blue F16 rolled out for one of it's first flights out of the GD Plant in Ft Worth. What a sight for sore eyes!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of business and fun in one photo.
ReplyDeleteI used to see a similar view from the flightline at NAS Alameda, we could see the skyline of the City By the Bay.
Lou: Me too. Or SOMEwhere, anyhoo.
ReplyDeleteDale: I love the Lawn Dart, too. I miss both seein' and hearin' 'em out at Cannon. C-130s and CV-22s are cool and all that, but they ain't the same.
Darryl: I'm thinkin' you had the better view at Alameda.
Better than Wisconsin right now. lol.
ReplyDeleteCooooool pic!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank ya, Anon and Moogie.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Red Flag many times (enlisted tech). The funny part is the opening briefing, where a two star General get's on the podium displaying a map of Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteWith his pointer he will point out all the Golf courses in the city, look really mean, and say:
"If you want to go home, and end your career as a pilot, then all you have to do is go near any one of these Golf courses with your jet."
"If you are on fire, and have to bail out, you will not go near a
a Golf course."
"These people on the Golf courses all have my phone number, and they don't like jets, when they know you can pull 9 G's to avoid them."
"If you screw-up and go near a Golf course, then you might as well buy a bus ticket and get out of here as quickly as possible."
Words to that effect...
With that, the Colonel took the podium, and the real exercise began...
Heh. You've reinforced my belief in the TRUE value of general officers, Anon.
