A Love Letter

Back on yer heads, coffee break's over.  Which means a HOCKEY post!  Fans really dig it when they get love letters about their teams, especially when those love letters appear in the newspaper of an opposing team's city.  The Beloved Wings won in Calgary last night, 2-1... and here are a couple of excerpts from an article about the game written by George Johnson of the Calgary Herald:
While the Calgary Flames and their captain were desperately trying to manufacture something, anything, on this night, endeavouring to avoid a third consecutive loss, the Detroit Red Wings were just letting everything flow, nice and smooth. No panic. No waste. Stick-to-stick. Supporting the puck.

Sheer class.

That, ladies and gents, is what's known as a schooling.

[...]
So easy on the eyes. Such active sticks. So intelligent. So unselfish. They're courageous enough to hang on to the puck that extra heartbeat, allow things to sort themselves out, and make the smart play. They win the vast majority of puck battles with quickness and intelligence. Datsyuk might be the smallest, but through a combination of determination, body positioning, cunning and quickness, he's always out first with the prize. Pound for pound, he's the game's most complete player.
Sing it, George!  We Wingnuts surely do appreciate it.
The pic is of Pavel Datsyuk with the Cup, in case you didn't know.  A couple of you DO know but the rest of you are mostly members of the Great Unwashed and are as iggerunt as the day is long.  Pity, that.

  7. Glenn: The Ducks will be lucky to make the playoffs, barring an amazing turn-around. The Kings, OTOH, are an entirely different story. El Eh has a great goalie and one of the best defensemen in the league in Doughty. They can score and they appear to have good chemistry, too. The Kings will be tough this year.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
