Chicago Raises Its Banner

The Blackhawks raised their fourth Stanley Cup banner over the United Center ice last evening with icons Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and other members of the 1961 team... the last time Chicago won the Cup... in attendance.  The video is a little long but it's pretty good.  There's nothing to compare with this in all of sports... just listen to the crowd!

The 'Hawks promptly went on to lose to the Beloved Wings, 3 - 2.  Chicago is 0-1-1 so far this year.

  1. The video does not seem to be working, but that's okay. Hockey is not my top priority until it gets down to the playoffs - and then only for you.

  2. Yes, a little drawn out. But great for the fans past and present of the Blackhawks.

Now, if only the Cubs could get some of this fire in their guts and pull out a World Series Championship.

I think America could get behind That kind of miracle, next year.

  3. Lou: That's too bad about the vid not working for ya.

Darryl: Agreed on the Cubbies. That WOULD be a miracle!

  4. Oh! That banner! I thought you were talking about the Political Corruption Banner, Amateur Division.

  5. Actually, Moogie, I think Chicago kinda-sorta set the bar for corruption. I know corruption is a way of life down Loosy-ana way but Chicago pretty much sets the standard in the 20th and 21st centuries, no?
