  1. They tortured me with that, too. The worst was getting the cover about a week prior to getting the real thing.

Worth the wait. I'm starting to get to know it a little better, and I love it.

  2. How did Andy get one before you did?

  3. Andy: I need to order a cover for mine... shoulda done that when I placed the original order. Dang.

Kath: Easy... he ordered before I did. ;-) I was gonna wait until the stock levels went up, in yet another case of creeping senility.

  4. Buck, if it's any consolation, FDIL works for Barnes & Noble, has a Kindle (which she told everyone she did NOT want...but somebody missed the notice, and gave her one anyway for her birthday).

She despises it. To use my vernacular (not hers) it goes something like, "Turnin' pages on a page turner is way good, but it just ain't a book if it don't smell like one."

As I said, that's MY interpretation of what she said. So, if it never gets there, you'll be okay. Trust me, you'll live long and prosper without it...and be a better man for it.

    But, it'll get there.

Pal, you will not believe my WV..."hogynow." That should make Moogie proud.

  5. Hmmm. That's the very first negative review on the Kindle I've heard. I've read similar sentiments from old Luddites who've sworn they'd NEVER buy one (and one of those Luddites MIGHT coulda been ME, now that I think about it) but never from a young'un. But she works in a bookstore, so... there ya go.

  6. "There ya go," indeed...

A true believer is rare these days amongst the young folks.

A purist she is. God broke the mold when he cranked her out. Seriously.

  7. I have the Barnes & Noble "nook" - and I do love it. I've always been a book person - I love the weight and feel of it, turning the pages, etc...

I'm a total convert now. It will be worth the wait Buck.

  8. Kris, You are right on about the weight and the feel. I can't speak for the Nook, as I have never held one, but the Kindle's size and weight is perfect. And that friggin' E-ink screen is simply way too cool.

I'm one of those types who sometimes have two or three books going at once and I can see where the Kindle will EXCEL in that particular space. And what you said, Andy.

    44 - 3 proud!

    Ya done good!

  13. You're gonna love it.

Bought a Kindle, enjoyed it, used it all the time.

When I bought an iPad, all I had to do was download the Kindle software, and all the books transferred automagically. ;-)

(There's also good PC and Mac desktop software.)

    Yep, you're gonna love it.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
