This will mean something to someone somewhere. Believe it or don't, this has everything to do with the fact I'm just sick to death of politics.
I quoted a piece part of these lyrics on a friend's blog this afternoon, to wit:
That said… politics just bores the living shit out of me these days. More food blogging! More semi-nekkid women! More big-ass, rip-roaring Amurican V8s! Mo’sickles! Fast things! Wild things! Tasty things! Good things!Got that? Yeah, we're in a mood to end all moods. I need some drugs. Some GOOD drugs.
Play that funky music, Nero (you white-boy, you)
Lay down the boogie and play that funky music till you die
Till you die
Oh ya, ya
That "mood" is prevalent, Buck. I can't get away with posting the semi-nude wimmin, though (unless they're real fat and ugly).
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, though...bombarded, and weary of much of it.
Don't get me wrong...I've got a few political blogs I turn to for info I need. But man, the echo chamber is deafening.
Hey, I found a good .gif I can't post that might cheer you up. I'll e'mail it.
I'm with you Buck. In fact my disillusionment with current events in general - specifically politics - is leading to a bit of an identity crisis with my blog. I started the thing to be about politics and current events - and these days I'm finding that to be the very last thing I want to write about.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm struggling to find my way and find a new voice. Not sure what's going to happen...
I don't do politics these days, but I did just get my first massage - as good as drugs maybe. I texted Toby and said I was loose as a goose and slick as snot. I won't write what he said back to me, but it is one of the reason I love that man. And that music makes me want to do The Bump - the dance - ya know!
ReplyDeleteDrugs AND a massage. Ahhh. Now THERE'S a daydream!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, too. It's part summer doldrums, part overload, and part impotence to do anything effective about all the BS going on out there.
But you have family time to savor and buttons to pop off with pride coming up! And that RAAACIST music you posted. Boogie down, dude!
Andy: One of the BETTER things about bein' on vacation is I have not looked at memeorandum ONCE since I left home, haven't read one single solely-political blog, and haven't watched the news at all. I'm beginning to think the guy that said "ignorance is bliss" knew what he was on about.
ReplyDeleteKris: I suppose you've noticed, but I pretty much went off politics a few months ago. I'll still post the occasional piece in that space and run a political cartoon once in a while. But I hear ya... breaking the addiction and finding something else to talk about ain't easy. And my day-to-day life is pretty mundane.
Lou: I can guess what Toby texted you back. Well, check that... I know what **I** would have said. And we're prolly pretty close.
"Ahhhh... wee want the BUMP... Gotta have that Bump... Ah, weee..." ;-)
Moogie: I think it's mostly frustration with having to live with that asshat residing at 1600 Penna Ave, and KNOWING things might coulda been different. I just get tired of all the "you're stoopid!" "No... YOU'RE stoopid. And EEevil!" shit. Wears a guy down after a bit.
Man, I could have sworn I left a comment here earlier. Whatever the case, it said something like this:
ReplyDeletePolitics or no, you just keep doin' what you're doin', and you certainly will mean something to someone somewhere. It's the best we can hope for sometimes, and it's nothing to scoff at.
Been loving your road trip/vacation posts, so keep them coming!
I've been experiencing a general malaise with respect to blogging in general. When I have the inspiration I don't have the time, and when I have time, no inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThe malaise has spilled over into commenting on the blogs I read. I'm sure it's just a funk, and it will pass.
Yep, I'm not at all interested in reading the news. Too depressing and who has time for that morose state of mind?
ReplyDeleteI'm working on fast, wild and tasty for you, darlin'. I think we could all use a delirious change of pace.
By the way, visit the Citadel while you're in Charleston - it's so cool.
I guess I have to say that I WILL be active in politics until I draw my last breath.
ReplyDeleteAm I sick to death of it? Heck, yeah, but our country is going down the drain while enemies of this country put more and more of their socialist and utterly dangerous agenda in place every single day.
Someone needs to fight them!!!! I would not think much of myself as an American citizen if I sat back like the millions of sheeple in this country and concentrated on entertaining myself with things I enjoyed while our country is going up in flames day after day.
I'll be out here in the trenches for the duration.
S-Andy: Thanks, Bud. I appreciate the thoughts.
ReplyDeleteBR: I go through blogging malaise from time to time, as well. It always passes.
I'm working on fast, wild and tasty for you, darlin'.
You answered the mail with that Christina A vid, Daph. Verrah cool, that. It's beginning to look like Charleston ain't gonna happen, more's the pity. I'm being overcome by events.
Sharon: Don't misunderstand me. Activism is a great good thing, and you and John (as well as others I know) are actively DOING something about the sad state of affairs we're in these days. I applaud you for that.
What I'm on about with my "bores the shit out of me" comment is all the talking heads, pundits, and wannabe pundits (read that as "snarky-assed bloggers") that bitch, piss, and moan about things while not contributing one damned iota to the solution, other than fouling the air. It's THOSE people of which I've had more than my fill.
Well this is a fine way to wake somebody up, Buck, thankyouverymuch! Night work has its good things, and sleeping through the day doesn't....but a pox on politics! I gotta go scrounge around for something tasty to eat....
ReplyDeleteJewel: After reading your blog I don't think you'll have to go far to find something tasty.
