My Work Here Is Done

But your post inspired me to try something different. So, last time at the market, I looked through their selection and for no particular reason picked out a six pack of Labatts Blue Light. I'd had Molson before but never Labatts. Best beer with food I've ever tasted. Best beer period. So out with the Miller and in with the Labatts. Thanks for the inspiration.
Well, I can now die a happy man... my efforts have borne fruit.  Speaking of Blue Light...

That would be SN3 putzing around in the garage in Ra-cha-cha, Noo Yawk... July of 1998.  We'd been playing in the summer rain, which is why his hair is so wild.

  1. I'm not so sure your work is done. After all, SN3 is still a minor and needs appropriate instruction. You'd best be dusting off your fatherly-beer-advice notes for a few years hence!

  2. The empties and are good and bad thing, but it's either in you or it's going to be in you, so that's always a better thing!

    Summer rians, freak'en rock!

  3. Is that one of those badass Impala's which was basically a ‘Vette in sheeps clothing?

  4. tim has left a new comment on your post "My Work Here Is Done" (BUT BLOGGER FRICKIN' ATE IT!):

Yup, one and the same. A '96, the last year they made 'em. One HELLA road car.

  5. Well, Blogger didn't eat Small-Tee's comment, after all. Just took its sweet time showin' up.

Moogie: Your point is well-taken. I'm sure SN3's Mom is teachin' him right, too. That girl can DRINK some beer.

RLM: Yup... stompin' in summer puddles is a favorite past-time.

  6. What's wrong with the original Labatt's Blue?

  7. Never had Labatt's. Must investigate....

  8. Nothing... I prefer it over Light. Blue Light is the ONLY acceptable Light beer I've ever had, and The Second Mrs. Pennington was concerned about keeping her girlish figure while still consuming mass quantities, so BL it was.

  9. It's good stuff, Heff.

  10. Gwaaaaa! SN3 is so dang cute! Man...they're cute when they're little.

I have only had a Labatt about
12 or 14 times in my life. That was one night in Quebec City about 25 years ago.

If memory serves, I can't remember whether it was good or not. But, somebody else was buying, so it must have been.

As often stated, I am not a beer drinker. But I didn't hurl, and they let me out of Canada with no formal charges filed. So, I'd give it three thumbs up.

    Heh! wv: police

  11. That is a new photo - never before seen in these parts. I like it. The reflections in the rain water, SN3's hair, the blue theme, etc.

  12. Andy: Kids are at the peak of cute when they're toddlers. IMHO.

Montreal is a fun place. I've only been once... in the dead of winter... but I had a great time. The city has some GREAT restaurants. And good beer. ;-)

Lou: Yeah, this pic is an outtake. I don't think I would have ever posted it, except for the beer bottles, which were germane to the story. But thanks for the kind words!

  13. Buck, Sorry to be late to the comment thread especially since you linked me (big thanks). I had the last bottle of the Blue Light tonight with BBQ and it was great. Next up is the original non light Blue. I'm sure it's as good probably better than the light. Thanks for the "inspiration."

  14. I forgot to mention that I do like the pic. Your SN3's hair color reminds me of my oldest grandson's at that age (he's now 29 with a toddler of his own!). Toddlers are as you say "at the peak of cute." I'm trying to figure out what it is he's playing with. Is that a plastic bottle or some kind of toy?

  15. I'm pretty sure he's playing with one of those damned sippy-cups that littered my life back in those days. A large economy-sized version.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  16. Labatt - I lived outside the brewery for 7 years. Each morning I woke up to the smell of stewed tomatoes - scratch that - hops.

Not my favorite beer in the world but on a hot summer day in SW Ontario and the Labatt girls are offering you stone cold free beer - you don't say no.

  17. I rarely say no to any sorta free beer but it HAS been known to happen... if there's an alternative.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
