Cheesy Videos XIX - Drainage...

...or lack o' same.  A quick trip out around P-Ville to illustrate our marvelous drainage system, otherwise known as 18th Street.

And now it's down Highway (US) 70 and into Beautiful La Hacienda Trailer Park.

What a nice day!

Technical note:  I publish these things once the video is uploaded and before the vids are available in HD, i.e. fully processed by The Tube of You.  HD usually comes on line about an hour or so after the post date/time.  These things ARE better in HD, believe it or don't.  For what that's worth.

  1. Buck, I'd take a flooded street about now. Man, we are bone dry...and every front throws water north of us.

Heck, I thought about posting Tanya Tucker's Lizzie & The Rainman today, just as a little prayer.

Enjoy it...stay out of the arroyos.

  2. Thank God it's not hockey. Rain is great, brilliant, wonderful.

You've been killing with the stick, Buck.

Heh. Good advice in this part o' the world. The NWS/WX Channel always runs a "flash flood watch" banner with the exact same advice whenever we get rain. I hope you get some of this stuff soon, Andy.

Daph: T'is the season, Girlfriend. It'll be over in about four weeks. ;-)

  4. Buck, Good sweet rain. Looks like you could almost use a Mercury, outboard that is. We've had too much of the wet stuff lately here in the Nashville area. Now a stationary front is squatting right over us. We had rain yesterday and today and it's forcast again for tomorrow. On top of last week's flooding, this is too much. BTW, what's the musical piece playing in the background? Nice.

  5. I've been watching your weather, Dan... and following what little news there is on the flood disaster. My heart goes out to Nashville. The music in the background is a couple o' tunes off Ronnie Lane's and Pete Townshend's collaboration album... Rough Mix. Specifically the last parts of "April Fool" and half of "Street in the City." It's a FINE album.

  6. You always go over to 18th Street after a good rain to see the temporary river.

One night after a really big rain a pickup got washed down the ditch into which 18th Street drains. My brother was a firefighter then; he carried one of the truck's occupants a good distance back onto dry land.

  7. I've stood and watched the water pour into that ditch, Gordon. It's simply an amazing sight and I do not doubt your story for one single instant.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
