Yep. Perfectly Clear, Sir.

But, ummm... who's gonna pay for that?

Full disclosure (from YouTube notes):  In an effort to make a point, a professor freezes a student's laptop with liquid nitrogen then smashes it.
NOTE: THIS WAS STAGED!
The laptop was not functional at the time.

Video purloined from a mention in this WaPo article: Wide Web of diversions gets laptops evicted from lecture halls.

  1. I saw that vid the other day. But, I didn't know it was staged. I wondered just exactly how ticked off the owner was...I feel better now.

  2. Occasionally, I would like to do the same thing with cell phones!

  3. Heh. My daughter's physics teacher did something similar, throwing things out the window, but he asked for "donations"...my daughter brought a defunct video game console. It didn't break by being thrown out of the upper-storey window...the teacher had to eventually take a hammer to it!

  4. I had a Physics teacher when I was a senior smash a calculator with a hammer. One of the rich kids brought one to a test. Avon Whitehead said slide rules only.
This was '71-'72 and calculators were not as available as now.

  5. Way cool. And I'm with Doc - I'd like to carry some of that stuff around with me and grab cell phones and... well, Doc didn't exactly say that, but I bet that's what he was thinking!

  6. Hey! Weren't you supposed to be going to visit the darling grandchildren?? Something about Pennsylvania?

    Hmmm.

Have you been uninvited? (See, I immediately leap to the bad thoughts.)

And, yes, I WAS going to make a different, perhaps polite, comment, but my word verification is Nosersup!! So I get to be nosey, right? :)

A minor delay due to circumstances entirely within our control. I've decided I'm never gonna fly again, ever... coz I HATE the frickin' TSA and refuse to play their games... and will drive to PA. This means I'll have to wait until Spring has fully sprung, coz my car hates snow. There's your explanation, Kath.

  9. Okey-dokey. Thank you.

What a nice trip, tho, that will be in spring! Personally, flying scares me to death, so I won't do it!

  10. In highschool, I would take things from kids and keep them until their parents came to pick up the items. In college, it may be rude to work on a laptop and I may understand the profs point of view, but it would be my money paying for the class and what I did in the class would be up to me.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
