Aging

So... as our birthday creeps inexorably closer (at which time we shall officially become a geezer) our friends of similar age keep sending along reminders of all the future fun stuff that lies in store... like this from Good Friend Katy:

This is dedicated to all of us who are seniors, to all of you who know seniors, and to all of you who will become seniors. It pays to be able to laugh about it when you are!
"WHERE is my SUNDAY paper?!" The irate customer calling the newspaper office loudly demanded to know where her Sunday edition was.
"Madam", said the newspaper employee, "today is Saturday. The Sunday paper is not delivered until tomorrow, on SUNDAY".
There was quite a long pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a ray of recognition as she was heard to mutter, "Well, shit, so that's why no one was at church today."
Yup.  Fun stuff.  I can't wait.

Speaking of fun stuff... Spring on The High Plains of New Mexico:

We'll be taking Happy Hour indoors for the next two days.  And then we shall return to normal operations.

  1. Hmmm -- what is actual geezer age these days? 50? 60? I mean, f'real, how the heck old ARE you??

Should I start typing in BIGGER letters, with lots of spaces in between?

(You started it, you brought it up.) :)

  2. I think the gub'mint officially defines "geezer" as one who is 65, and that's the milestone I'll be hitting in a few days. But everything still is pretty much in fine working order (except, perhaps, for my brain), Kath... so no special steps are required on your part. ;-)

  3. Buck, I feel for you weatherwise. It is just finally way too gorgeous here. But, y'all will get there.

A friend of mine in Denver says they are to get about a foot of the white stuff. But, y'all cheer up. Tomorrow is the first day of Spring. That'll fix everything.

As to the geezerhood...you are 14 yrs. ahead of me, but some days...

  4. I just can't think of you as a geezer - not when you play the best music and are so "in the know."

The weather will turn crappy here tomorrow. Bleah!

  5. Comin' down gooood here just a few miles west of you (and a couple thousand feet higher).

Happy birfday, geezer-to-be... geezer that tells me I'm too young to be stuck in a musical taste rut.
NP, Blondie, Autoamerican (1980), Here's Looking at You (in Debbie Harry 1979 gentle rap):

"As I sit staring into this liquid amber
Ripples move out to the edge of the glass
Is that really your reflection in there?"

    link I think.

Shoot, just search Youtube for it.

  6. Andy: Spring? Hah. See my 2256!

Lou and BR: You are SO very kind!

Bob: Google is my friend! I cut and pasted your lyrics into Google's search bar, hit "I'm Feeling Lucky" (I love doin' that!), and got "Blondie Here's Looking at You" on the Tube of You. Piece o' cake. Thanks for that!

It's comin' down pretty good here, too. Mostly freezing rain at the moment, which makes for interesting late-night acoustics.

  7. Huh? A geezer in England is a cool man, usually a Londoner. It has nothing to do with age unless you stick the word old in front of it!

  8. "Geezer" in the Colonies is an Old Fart, A. Yet another example of two peoples separated by a common language.
