NBC don't get it... the video at the link that follows isn't embeddable. But it's worth your time to chase the link... one of the prettiest goals we're likely to see in these Olympics or anywhere else, for that matter. Jocelyne Lamoureux puts a move on a defender and scores a most Ovechkin-like goal. Sweetness!
The US women's team creamed the Chinese today, 12-1. Gold. I see it comin'.
I caught that one live - friggin amazing. Couldn't get enough replays of it. The ladies looked good.
ReplyDeleteI saw it live too and was haunting NBC's site... just waiting for the video to appear.
ReplyDeleteHey Buck, I haven't kept up with women's hockey, and actually didn't now it was an Olympic sport.
ReplyDeleteYou probably know this, but the Slovaks beat the Bulgarians 82-0 a while back. Seriously. http://deadspin.com/5046619/womens-hockey-needs-to-adopt-a-60%20goal-mercy-rule
Just think what the US gals coulda done to 'em...
I didn't know that, Andy, thanks for the link. But I was thinking about a mercy rule yesterday while watching the Canadian women beat these same Slovaks 18-0. That game was simply a thrashing.
ReplyDeleteQuite the move. I'll bet the Chinese gal never did find her underwear after that one.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Gordon! That goal has been shown at least four more times tonight on NBC and is being described as "the goal of the tournament" by NBC commentators. It IS pretty.
ReplyDeleteerrhhh... much like Canada did to Slovakia... 18-0 yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see it come down to Canada vs. USA. At least it is on the same playing level!!
And.... the gold belongs to CANADA!!!!
And Good old nbc, cnbc and the rest managed to hose up the whole deal out here in the Mojave. Lousy Bums, any way!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful goal and girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd.... the gold belongs to CANADA!!!!
ReplyDeleteHeh. Wishing will NOT make it so. If you need help, KC, I can point you towards this year's women's world champions... who wore Red, White, and BLUE.
Glenn: How so? Everything was OK with NBC in these parts, if you ignore the scheduling idiocy... which is to say putting the games on USA and CNBC.
Lou: Right on both counts!!
I read up a little on the Lamoureaux twins. They played their freshman college year for the University of Minnesota, where they combined for 140 freakin' points in 40 games. Then, for some reason, they transferred to North Dakota.
ReplyDeleteTalk about having to fill one hell of a hole in your lineup. I'd bet there's an interesting story there.
Yet another item to add to my google list, Gordon. UND has ALWAYS had a superlative hockey program, though. Not that UoMN doesn't, of course.
