Big News

At the moment, anyway.  Miss Alaska signs on with Fox News as a pundit/contributor.  And... predictably... memeorandum goes wild:

Me?  I'm thinking she'd be eminently suited for many appearances in The Leg Chair.  Other than that?  Not so much.   I'm just wonderin' when La Palin's "15 minutes" is gonna be up.  But it doesn't appear to be anytime soon, more's the pity.

Enough, already.

  2. Morgan. Dude. I hate to tell ya this, Bud, but you're a piss-poor judge of emotion as expressed in the written word. Tis not jealousy at all; it's weariness. Serious, unmitigated WEARINESS. And jes a lil bit o' snark, to be completely truthful about it.

  3. I'm still disappointed in Miss Alaska for quitting early. If her political experience or lack of experience was in question before, she has nothing now. I know some women in OK and TX who have more experience, but they are not as pretty.

  4. It's been the longest 15 minutes of my life. On the one hand I'm ready for her to fade into oblivion, but on the other hand she makes a great lightning rod for the hysterical left.

    Word verification: notcant

    Is that a double negative?

  5. Lou: Her quitting raised my eyebrows, as well. I've read her reasons and they're reasonable enough on the surface. Yet still, one expects an elected official to discharge their responsibilities, no?

BR: I'm glad I'm not the Lone Ranger here. I'm not a lefty by ANY means, but there's something about Palin that bugs me.

  6. Buck, Have to agree with you. I've said it before -- don't like being told that anyone or anything is THE answer.

But the quitting part really galled me. And I think that will forever haunt her -- there's no getting over that or past it or ignoring it, whatever terminology anyone wants to use.

  7. Fox News eh. To do what - read out the weather? ;)

  8. Why can't the lovely former Governor have a cool job? Besides, it's t.v., not an election.

  9. As usual when it comes to Palin bashing, not one articulated reason for such. Rather like the pre election adulation for Obama “I dunn’o, I just LOVE him”.

  10. Buck, maybe...just maybe, she was discharging her duties when she threw in the towel. IF her duty is to the folks of Alaska, and her "lightning" prevented proper service...well...

I was disappointed when she quit, but I'll just have to take her explanation, and wonder what I would have done in her shoes. Well, not HER shoes, but you know what I mean.

Of course, Moolah is hard to come by, and almost impossible to turn your back on. Then again, a Governor of a State is not like a Sophomore in college that declares for the NBA draft. So, there's a rub there.

I'm not a huge fan of Sarah. Yet. She may develop. Time always tells, and it always tells the truth.

As to her gig with FOX... I'm voting for the leg chair deal. ;)

Say what they may, the gal is easy on the eyes.

  11. Yep -- the Leg Chair has to be a go.

Think about it -- this could be a great (paid) opportunity to get her up to s[eed on lots of stuff.

    Definitely an interesting move.

  12. Ah-ha! Moogie P -- you are right! Very good way to be immersed in all that's going on and stay in front of the public eye. Didn't think of that.

  13. Kath: Yeah, I don't like political instruction, either.

Alison: A lil bit more than weather, methinks. ;-)

Darryl: No reason at all as to why she can't have a cool job, other than overexposure.

Small-Tee: Disagree. Quitting was one articulated reason, wasn't it? And this wasn't exactly "Palin-bashing." I've seen Palin-Bashing, I knew Palin-Bashing, and Senator, this is NOT Palin-Bashing!

Andy: I'm a Palin skeptic (the term I prefer). I WILL admit I was part of the Gushing Crowd along about the time she gave her acceptance speech at the GOP convention in 2008 but subsequent events made me reconsider my position.

Moogie: Being immersed in the news o' the day can only do Palin good... so: agreed. And Yes! to the Leg Chair!

    Kath: See above. ;-)

  14. So she quit, and this answers tim's question. Sorry, not buying it; the godless heathen still has a point. She's forever tarnished because she's a quitter? Joe Scarborough quit...Fred Thompson quit TWO things...Denny Hastert...Trent Lott...Bill Frist...Newt Gingrich...and then there's that other guy on Fox whose name escapes me at the moment. I'm just jotting this from memory with some refresher aids, it's not on a website anywhere to my knowledge...

Point is, not all of these gentlemen are so -- whatever ya wanna calls 'it. Certainly nobody's declaring them unfit for anything, save for those who never liked 'em in the first place.

How come chicks can't quit? Is this one of those deals were we dudes have it easy and don't realize it?

You need to be more practical, methinks. You just know if she served out the rest of her term in Alaska, you could forget about leg chairs.

Apples and oranges, methinks. But that's just my opinion, and ya know what they say about that. As to your other point... I'll be VERY surprised if La Palin does Red Eye. Somehow I think she might feel that show is beneath her. But I could be wrong, and kinda-sorta hope I AM. Wrong. It's happened before, albeit rarely.

  16. Bless you for your brief and honest words - and, ones I agree with.

But, the best way in this climate to get called names by the right is to refuse to adore Palin and Beck -- I've been told I'm a liberal... ya, right!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
