About which: a couple o' pics I received this morning.
SN1 posted the back-story about the door pic on his blog... And then there's this:
This is the sign that graces the front of the UK Military PAX terminal at Kandahar. I'm thinking the original Heathrow just might be a lil more hospitable. Ya think?

Oh, that's a serious piece of hardware the man is standing behind. Absolutely awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh man, weapons porn, thanks Buck.
ReplyDeleteI’m thinking, going back to my glory days as a Marine Corps Small Arms Repairman, that looks like modified Browning M2 .50 cal machine gun. (Just guessing, could be wrong).
Ya’ just haven’t lived till ya’ griped one of those puppies and put some rounds down range, no Sir!
The memories…
All about the Ma Deuce, tim! Had the privilege of firing one once, and have hoped for another chance ever since.
ReplyDeleteI'll defer to both y'all on whether it's an M2 or not. SN1 will probably be able to corroborate... if he chooses to do so. :p

ReplyDeleteI dunno about the real Heathrow being much better. Last time I was thru there they were off loading 5 full 747s at the same time and we stood in line in 25-30 abreast & football-field long deep ramps that made the Chicago or KC stockyards
look like close order drill by comparison. Better stick with the Af thing...
I came by and then moved on to SN1's blog and forgot to comment here. But you know how I love mil-pics.
ReplyDeleteVirgil: I quit flying into Heathrow back in the '90s, booking ALL my biz trips into Gatwick. The rail link right in the terminal and the general lack of congestion is all it took to change my mind after my first flight in there. You're right: Heathrow is and always has been a zoo.
ReplyDeleteLou: I saw your comment over at Buck's place. Thanks!
I think the food is probably better at Kandahar, too. It couldn't be worse.
ReplyDeleteGordon: Good point. But Heathrow I isn't subject to GO #1.
