Happy Mother's Day

Call your Mom.

And get your self outside and pick up the dog poop if you're male, married with children, and have a dog. She'll love you for it. ;-)

Apropos of not much... the image above is responsible for a two-fold increase in traffic (at the very least) here at EIP for a couple o' few days preceding Mom's Day. I first published the graphic on Mother's Day of 2007... and googlers doing an image search for for a suitable Mom's Day card have hit EIP with a vengeance each year since. Note the second line in the graphic below:

Last year's traffic spike:
This year's:
We fade back into our normal state of obscurity shortly after Mom's Day.

  1. That's not obscurity, Buck. Check my stats.

As for the cartoon: What world is that in? Is it a world where the woman does the dog poop detail? Because if so, I think an awful lot of us men would like to move there. And the garbage and the garage? Are those woman's jobs in someone's house out there? The guy in the cartoon must be a real piece of sh*t.

  2. The Second Mrs. Pennington picked up dog poop 90% of the time back in the day... and she was NEVER happy about it, either. That may not have been THE reason she walked, but it no doubt contributed. (I jest, of course.) I agree on the rest of the stuff... but need to mention my last live-in girlfriend was consistently amazed that the garbage went out every evening without fail. Or nagging. She remarked on that, often. I guess her ex- was one of those guys you mention.

As for stats... you'll get there Andy, and you'll whiz right by me in due time. Quality WILL be recognized, and I most certainly believe that. And you get linked by Gerard, too. :D

  3. I guess you just know what you know, and I know that growing up the poop, garbage, garage detail was all my dad's job. Pretty much the same with my current household.

  4. You're right, we each of us know what we know. And I know that while my Ol' Man retained the garage until his dying day, the garbage and dog poop became mine from about age 12 until I moved out... I think my father was sorry to see me go, in that respect. :D

  5. On the greenway trail near my current residence: a photo of a bulldog saying "if you think it's gross to pick up dog poop, try drinking it."

  7. I thought the garbage and the poop was the kid's job. Speaking of dog poop, Ranger the Rat went to the Arts Festival with us in Lawton yesterday. The first thing he did was poop in front of a food booth. I was horrified, but the lady in the booth gave me a throw-away glove and some paper towels to scoop the poop - Toby and Jesse just stood there and laughed. Some Mother's Day!

  8. Phil: LOL on the clip. I like Walsh a lot, but that's pretty appropriate!

Lou: I would have been mortified with Ranger, as well. But dogs do what they gotta do... regardless of time or circumstance. Gotta love that.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
