Not Bad...

...for an Ol' Girl who will be eight years old young come October. She cleans up pretty well for an ol' girl, dontcha think? Which kinda-sorta brings to mind that ol' teevee commercial that said "My wife...I think I'll keep her."

You probably remember that ad if you're of a certain age. If you don't remember it, or never saw it to begin with, you can see it here. It's at the 1:22 point of a 1:33 clip, and requires RealPlayer. Bonus: Joe Namath in panty hose, and other memorable moments in advertising from the '50s, '60s, and '70s.

  1. Miata's look good for any age. They really are one of the sweetest designs in the past 20 years or so.

  2. Agreed on the design, Kris. But I've seen some pretty ratty looking Miatas running around, some of which were/are younger than the Green Hornet. It's obvious (to me) that the quality of maintenance and upkeep has a LOT to do with how long something lasts. (And, as noted elsewhere... I have an immediate grasp of the obvious!) ;-)

  3. I couldn't watch the clip, cause I don't have real player, but I do remember Joe Namath in panty hose.

    The Ol' Girl looks great!

  4. Thanks for the wash! I'm sure we will get some rain tonight!! On that note, do you have a cover for the ol' gal or something? I do feel bad for her to get all wet.

  5. I will have to wait unti later to see the video, but I do remember Joe Namath and the pantyhose. I had quite a crush on Joe.

  6. Some things(good well cared for cars) get better with age...that Joe Namath, no so....today's the Gay Avengers would be protesting it.

  7. Becky: The clip is just a fast-paced collection of ad tag-lines, so you didn't miss a lot. I thought it was fun, tho.

Jenny: We got a LOT of rain here last night and I think y'all did, too.

I had a cover for the car the first year I owned it, but the danged thing was more trouble than it was worth -- it was a beeyotch to fold up, unfold, and took up a LOT of space when stored. And I don't think a cover would be all that good of an idea here, what with all the wind and dust we have; chafing would be an issue.

Lou: So you had a crush on Broadway Joe, eh? I'm not sure, but I don't think I ever saw him play. I was out of the country when the Jets won their Sooper-Dooper Bowl and wasn't into football all that much, anyway.

Thanks for the compliment on the car!

Pat: Agreed on the car thing!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
