A Minor Haunting

It’s come back to haunt me…

At her victory party, Hillary was like the heroine of a Lifetime movie, a woman in peril who manages to triumph. Saying that her heart was full, she sounded the feminist anthem: “I found my own voice.”

Aiiieeee. I saw Hillary deliver this pithy lil quote last night in real-time and nearly lost it. I mean seriously… “Lost it” is perhaps too kind, too gentle, too un-descriptive of my true state. “Ballistic,” as in “He went ballistic…” might work better. As soon as I heard those words I literally rose from my seat and paced up and down the room for a good three minutes, mumbling epithets the whole time, before I calmed down.

And why might that be, you ask, Gentle Reader?

The Second Mrs. Pennington somehow managed to work this phrase into her every rant about my faults and failings, her dissatisfaction with me, in general, and our life together, specifically, during the end-game of our marriage. I found that trait amusing at first, irritating soon thereafter, and unbearable in short order. I mean...your voice went missing for 22 and a half frickin' years? And you've just now found it? For the singular purpose of beating the crap out of me? Really? How absolutely droll, M'Dear.

I had hoped to never hear that particular phrase ever again after we were all over. And then last night: there it was.

Aiiiieeee.

(And in a first for EIP: the quote is from MoDo, writing at her usual place of business. Aiiee, yet again.)

  1. God! The things we have to listen to, and now, I get a strong feeling we may have to hear it for 4 freakin' years!

We may have to get ear plugs or leave the TV off during the news hour.

  2. Perfect comeback to "I found my voice":

When I get the feeling there's a shortage of "voice" in this place, I'll be sure & letcha know.

I know, it's way too late to jump back...got a few things I'd like to say to my ex, but that was 16+ years ago and PTSD has mostly wiped the memories away.

  3. Finding a voice at her age? (Hillary, I mean) Poor thing. She's tried Southern gospel to no avail. Maybe she'll try this Evita Peron persona for awhile. It worked this time.

Obama has found his (JFK/MLK), so he's all set.

  4. Do you think she meant she found the tone of voice that wouldn't cause us to all wish her speechless?

  5. I wish she would lose her voice. Ugh. The tirade of tears would make ME want to lose it. If this isn't proof of how two-faced she is, I don't know what is.

  6. Mushy: You are SO correct on this! I know the very sound of Dubya drives some moonbats around the bend, so perhaps turnabout is fair play. But I doubt it.

Morgan: You cannot believe how hearing that phrase last night set me off. Believe it or don't I do believe last night was the first time I'd heard the phrase. I'd read it elsewhere, numerous times, but reading doesn't have near the impact of hearing it...

I never developed a comeback for this situation. She knew it pissed me off to no end, and that only made things worse. Sound familiar?

Now THAT was perhaps the greatest "cringe-making" moment of this election season. Truly, really, and above all... awfully bad.

Cynthia: You mean we don't wish her speechless, already? ;-)

I just now watched some speculation on the news that the whole "get teary" incident was contrived. Something about some interview Hillary did with some "entertainment" show this past Sunday about "showing emotion." Coincidence? I think not...

  7. "I found my voice" is a very selfish thing to say. It comes from someone who never thinks of what others do for them or give up for them. They are only concerned for themselves and how they feel with little to no regard to those around them. They are willing to sacrifice everyone to satisfy themselves - definitely not a team player.

Hillary is totally contrived - bigtime play actress and totally selfish.

  8. There's a reason we say PTSD is a bitch. But I'll deny saying that.

Some? I can't believe anyone would have thought that was anything but totally engineered, right down to the question that prompted the water works. I read somewhere today that the woman who asked the question - did not vote for Hillary. I think it was on Hot Air, but the link looks like it's gone.

Hillary is completely engineered. There is nothing sincere about her - everything is well planned for primo manipulation. She is a machine.

As I've said elsewhere, she and Bill deserve each other. This country does not.

FNC interviewed her last night, and yeah, she voted for Obama.

Lou: VERY good points about the "voice" thing.

Doc sez: But I'll deny saying that.

    Noted, Doc. I won't quote you. ;-)

Abe: Thanks again for your kind words!

  12. Stomach churning, that Hilly episode.
I'm fairly sure that many of our presidents cried. Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Truman, and so on. But they had the common sense not to do it publicly.
I wonder how many male votes she lost with that calculated "pity me" episode. Mine, for sure and certain.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
